If he wanted to play safety he would be an All-American.

Him having a year+ head start on Bolden and Jones and he couldn't beat them out? Heck, he couldn't beat out McGloin ... it's not like PSU screwed him up. He would do pretty well as an option attack QB, he does not throw the ball well.

No, this kid is just a spoiled player and would do the same at any other school because he was not starting! It will b interesting how good he thinks he will be after sitting out a year!

I don't think he is spoiled, but he would most likely do the same at other schools. He isn't cocky or arrogant. He seems like a pretty chill guy. Kevin has been a really good student during his time at PSU. He just wants to play more and play the position he was recruited to play.

Kevin has yet to redshirt, so sitting out another year won't be a big deal. If he were to go to Deleware like Devlin he wouldn't have to sit out a year.

This is, without a doubt, the lamest group of comments that I have ever seen on the INTERNETS.
Newsome will be much better off transfering to some place where he can start at QB. He has no chance at PSU, which has the most talent at QB that they have ever had under Paterno.
As for the rest of you, Merry Christmas!
Get a Life!

Hostetler.

Transferred to West Virginia,
and then a productive,
and long,
NFL career.

Way ahead of the guy who grabbed the PSU starting spot ahead of him.

Good luck, Newsome.

White trash... this poster is no doubt. JoePa is killing the program. Went to one recruitment trip only once in 2008 none since. These kids bought into a program w/an old fool. Joe go to your vacation property here at the NJ Shore in Avalon NJ. Joe just go!!!

I encouraged Kevin to leave. Can you imagine this kid going into a meeting with the coach and the coach tells him to "suck it up"? Pat Devlin made the right decision. Kevin, don't trust JoePa. He's a blowhard.

Jim Kelly (Buffalo) was recruited or tried to be at PSU and JoePa only about 57 then wanted Jim to convert to Dback and Kelly said no thanks. There a lot of stories like this through the many many many many many many JoePa years. GO!!

How many QB's do colleges carry on their team? How many start? The answer is ONE!Someone else got picked and now the kid is acting spoiled!

There's a chance that Newsome would have been fourth-string by the end of the summer of 2011, with Paul Jones also passing him on the depth chart.

For a so-called "old fool" like JoePa, it's pretty impressive that a guy like Newsome, who was a consensus top-10 QB in his recruiting class, is buried on the depth chart.

He's got to get a chance to play, and it's not happening at Penn State. He doesn't owe anything to Penn State, except for his best effort as long as he's on the team. He's done that. Wanting to actually play in games doesn't make him spoiled, it makes him competitive.

I wish him the best.
