Tressel has bent or ignored the NCAA rules from his stint in Youngstown to his next, final job in Columbus. He is the common denominator, not the miscreants he recruited in. He deserves no sympathy, nor reverence. Maybe he can now spend his time working to transform kids lives through Jesus Christ or become the second notorious Senator from Youngstown named Jimmy. It is starting to sound like when all is said and done, OSU's football program represents years of violations that were overlooked by Tressel, the compliance program and beyond. At this point, cleaning house should be considered, and that includes Smith and possibly Gee, whose comments at the March presser show how out of control OSU athletics really are.

Legacy? Tressel was a cheater and liar at Youngstown and OSU and that is how he should be remembered.

You can run but you can't hide scumbag.

Tressel built a Culture of Corruption at Ohio $lime U.

If it weren't for Yahoo sports, this story would not have been exposed.

Another bad ending for the Culture of Corruption called the university of ohio state.

Tressel may have been 9-1 vs. Michigan, but I would rather still be Michigan today.

Hail to the Victors!

Tressel will be remembered for the National Championships he wins at his next school. His Ohio State career is no less tarnished than the run at Youngstown State.

His next job will be somewhere with a compliance department that is responsible for NCAA rules and regulations.

Hope OSU can field enough eligable players in November to make it a game after reading the Sports Illustrated article .

The situation is going to get uglier at OSU. Spin it any way you want. OSU is in Deep, Deep trouble. Have fun watching the 1st B1G champonship and the Bowl games the next couple of years WITHOUT OSU.

Maybe the players can learn one last thing from Coach Tressel; the importance of integrity and the constant upkeep of one's reputation. These character traits are very fragile and one wrong can wipe out a hundred goods. It may not be fair, but it's the way of the world.

Coach Tressel had an opportunity to do the right thing, to turn the information over to Compliance Officer. It would have been hard. The players would have been suspended. The season would have been 7-5 at best instead of 10-1. But integrity would have been maintained and reputations would have grown. Instead we have what we have now.

Maybe that will be the legacy of Coach Tressel; maybe his actions will serve as a cautionary tale about taking the easy way out. No matter how hard it is to do the right thing, in the end, it is still easier than the wrong thing.

I find it interesting that not one post up to now refers to statement after statement from people and former players. Everyone was jumping on board to say see....even Herbstreet and Spielman say he's dirty. Now you read what they really say and both focus on the INCIDENT of coverup only being the negative. They don't excuse him but they also give him so much credit for his years at OSU. The outside world of ignorant fans put Herbstree up as an example of "someone who really knows". Now they will ignore him because he doesn't promote their agenda. Other players commend him for helping them become the men they are proud to be. Yes, he had to go but he is getting a lot more than he earned. The deeds of others brought this all on, he just didn't deal with it as he should have.
Yep, the outside would has an agenda and they will dump all the problems as being Tressel.

Dionte Johnson must not be too bright. The issue is not the tattoos, it's the use of ineligible players and then lying repetitively about it. If that's integrity, I feel sorry for OSU players and fans. Plus, OSU has more secondary violations within their athletics over the past 10 years than any other program.

It's interesting that so many members of the buckeye nation are still making excuses for this guy. He's turned out to be the exact opposite of the decent, honest, high integrity, bible thumper image that he conned us all with. He's not only violated NCAA rules, he's scammed and lied to every fan. This will get even uglier, before it gets better.

That's right. Keep your head buried in the sand. So what's a few tattoos, a little grass. Some video games. A place to hang out. What's the harm? It's called extra benefits and it's at the core of NCAA rules infractions. Keep denying the severity of the situation. That's all it will take for the NCAA to render a USC-like sentence on the football program.

For those of you who think his cheating doesn't matter, think again. With cheating, he quickly turned around the program at YSU in one of the arm pit cities in the US. With cheating, he was able to have a successful program at a school that had a terrible program.

With cheating, he won the now tainted national championship in his second season. With even more cheating, he won many Big Ten titles and won a lot of games against Michigan.

There are two common threads that follow Tressel. One is cheating and the other is winning. Somehow, I think they are related.

Well. Sorry to pee in your cereal, but OSU and UM have not just been juggernauts in major college sports for the past 75 years because of CLEAN PROGRAMS! The karma train is coming around. Everyone cheats, and now you have been caught!! Eat it!! OSU, your basketball program is next.
