FSU wide receivers a big concern both on and off the field

There are 7 comments on the Orlando Sentinel story from Jun 10, 2009, titled FSU wide receivers a big concern both on and off the field. In it, Orlando Sentinel reports that:

After all that has gone wrong for the Florida State wide receiving corps between now and the end of the 2008 season - after all the departures and arrests and suspensions - Seminoles quarterback Christian Ponder said recently, "It's not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be." He might be an optimist.

Why did the injuries and denial of an appeal make the list of "problems?" Was it because they were receivers and you just wanted to make the list look longer? Yeah there are problems but you took a hill and make it look a mountain.

Nevermind that Preston Parker was dismissed from the team LAST YEAR. FSU knew going in that they'd be lucky to have Smurf for one year, two was almost out of the question. And Easterling is running and is listed at 90%. He'll be fine come Labor Day. More slanted rhetoric from the gator-sentinel.

this program must get cleaned up, even at the cost of loosing out on talent and loosing football games. they need to purge the hard cases from the roster and stop recruting these types of players with character issues. Bobby's image will be in tatters if he doesn't get it cleaned up.

Whatever you need to do to get the spotlight off of uf's 24 arrests under Corch Myers. It's just a shame that despite the success that uf has had over the past few years, they still have an inferiority complex about the Noles and Canes.

Well, DUH!! Has it dawned on any of the coaches to tell the ENTIRE team on the first day of spring practice that if they didn't come here to get an education and play ball on the side, then they should pack up and head on out cause if they came to party and get arrested, THEY ARE GONE...OUT...FIRST TIME...EVERY TIME, no matter how much talent they have!!!!!

Now that is a little extreme don't you think. I agree certian lines should not be crossed, but if an 18 or 19 year old kid messes up once, should they really never be given another chance to prove that they can make it right? Repeat offenders good-bye, but a good kid that screws up should be given a second chance most of the time. Especially if it is for missing class or getting a bad grade. Suspend them, then teach them how important education is and let them try again.
