Would you be accused of being pro-USC if you voted them Number One? No, more likely you'd be "accused" of having a brain and a modicum of intelligence, both of which are notably lacking based on your current vote.

Well, you're entitled to your own opinion. It's still wrong.

Scott,

Call me crazy but last time I checked the vote was supposed to be based on performance on the field, not wins and losses only. USC has looked phenomenal on offense and defense. Georgia has looked good on defense and average on offense. Florida has looked average on both sides of the ball. Should they be "punished for that"? YES!! Should USC have been punished for allowing Stanford to score 28 in '04. YES!! As we saw in the Texas-USC game, their defense was not NC caliber. This year, whether they make it to Miami or not, their defense is NC caliber. Their offense has looked great too. You are entitled to your opinion and I applaud you for not going with the crowd. Just try having more intelligent reasons for doing so if you want respect for going against the grain.

what? you don't agree with us? then you're an idiot. Can't you understand that any time you think USC isn't lord and master of the football universe, you are therefore mentally deficient.

Robert,

It isn't a matter of agree or disagree. It is a matter of having a valid argument for your vote. If Wolfe is going to come on her and feel he needs to defend his vote, than make a valid defense. His defense was inane and lacking merit. Of course, anyone who suddenly finds a reason to hate USC in the last few years (admit it you barely knew who USC was in the '90's) has to come on and defend anyone who seems to be against USC. Wolfe isn't mentally deficient. His articles have tended to be smart and well written. However, this article was not smart nor well written. His defenses were weak and lacked any teeth at all. It was more a chest-pumping-look-at-me-I-am- a-rebel statement.

Talking about how the rest of the PAC-10 did against the MWC is relevant to USC ranking? This article is in response to the spanking Scott got on the radio yesterday. Scott man up and go back on the radio.

What Tim said.

I'm not surprised that Scott Wolf could find a way to rank the Trojans lower and I don't think it's that big of a deal. What irritates me is his idiotic reasoning, which is a shoddy attempt to cover up the fact that Scott Wolfe thinks he's a "maverick" voter who bucks the trend and doesn't give in to "groupthink." Actually, Scott, you refuse to give in to thinking.

Wolfe has been doing this for years, he is just trying to get people worked up so more people read his blog and articles.

This is a weasely way of accommodating your being completely out-of-synch with the obvious and very reasonable consensus. If it makes you feel better, fine, but don't pretend it's anything other than it is.

fair enough. My only comment is that this team looks to be better than last year's or the year before that, especially on offense. But can you believe this defense?! Wow! Mark Sanchez is a much better QB than Booty was and Booty wasn't bad. He could win his Heisman in his first year as a starter for SC. This team is just getting warmed up and if they can stay focused into November, it won't even matter who the other team will be in Miami. Go SC!!!

Wow,

USC starts out at #5 for this guy and after 2 wins, one against a Miserable Virginia team and Another against an OSU team that got Blown out at the NC last year, barely beat a CRAP Ohio team (who really should of won) everyone thinks THIS USC IS THE BEST EVER CONSENSUS #1..........SPARE ME. OU, Mizzou, Florida, Georgia Would ALL OF BEATEN OSU Easily!

HE moved them up 2 spots to #3 while his original top 4...2 stayed the same after Winning also, and 2 obviously moved down.

OOOOOOO...if they pass the test they get the privilege of receiving your vote. Please! Everyone who follows USC knows you're a joke of a beat writer and that your opinion means nothing. Normally, and I mean everyday, I stay away from your columns as they are filled with drivel and misinformation. This one however I felt compelled to read because of the headline. Your rational is a joke, as is your writing. It makes no sense to keep Georgia at number one when they play cupcakes to start their schedule, but I guess it is less important who a team plays, just that they win.

You're a sad excuse for a writer and the daily news will be better off when you move along. If there is any justice in the world someone will stick you and your buddy Petros, another bitter loser, on an island together far from us and USC......

Scotty, have you ever really thought about the fact that so many are upset with you has nothing to do with where you voted SC, but rather the fact that you are a frustrated wanna be jock, who just happens to be a hack sportswriter? I am a die hard SC fan, but I spend more time reading the UCLA Blog because Mr. Dohn brings something to the table which you are not capable of. Journalistic integrity! You spend more time spewing nonscence, I.E. The SC Song Girls, than you do REPORTING relevent information pertaining to the SC football program. Face it Scotty, you are nothing more than a little troll who has accomplished nothing worthwhile in your pathetic life than to unfairly criticize the USC players and coaching staff. Then when the heat get turned up on you for once, you pull a Vince Young and cry for your mommy to tell them to stop picking on you. The next time you want to bash someone remember this you gutless worm!

Ummmmm Ben, who said this is the best team ever? Who said this is even the best team this year. The general point here is that Wolfe's article lacked merit. If he thinks they are 3, vote 3. If thinks they are 25, vote 25. However, if he thinks he must defend it (which says a lot about his confidence in the vote) than defend it with valid arguments. The arguments here aren't valid. As for Georgia, they squeaked by South Carolina and, as you like to prognosticate, should have lost. So, spare me the confidence in GA. The point is, who gives a plug nickel how he votes, just don't try to act as the rebel because of the vote and don't defend the vote with puff pieces in the newspaper. Kind of like, don't try to defend Wolfe with wild exagerated statments like, "everyone thinks this USC is the best ever consensus #1" when nobody even came close to saying that. You ever notice that the people with the weakest arguments feel the need to capitalize entire lines to make their points seem more important?

Hmmmm...do polls really matter? Last I heard, college football was about the game and education, not the win/lose column or opinions that sell publications.

Scott,
You fell into the folly that many poll voters do. You have Georgia as #1 because that's where you had them preseason. That's not a very good reason.
