like what do these undrafted guys get signed for? A couple weeks for a couple grand if they make the team they would get the league minimum? Or would another contract be negotiated?
A friend of mine signed with the Steelers out of U.Findley and he got 75K just for going to traing camp. That was about 10yrs ago. I'm sure they get a lot more now.

Nice to hear all these teams were fighting to get Dane. Too bad he didn't want to go to Cleveland. Everyone on the current OSU team should watch and learn from Dane. Play by the rules. Go to class everyday and get your degree. Things will work out for you in the end.

Good luck Dane!!

Have to admit I was hoping Philip Rivers was going to be throwing to you over the middle and, my guess, is the Chargers were probably one of the teams after you?

Why didn't any of the "local" teams sign some of the Buckeye FA?

The Sanzenbacher/Welker comparisons are pretty ridiculous. Welker was small and didn't post a great 40 time coming out of college but on tape you could see him get separation from defensive backs. He's really quick off the line and explosive out of his cuts. He's not a deep threat, because people can catch him on a dead run, but he kills people on those double moves. Sanzenbacher not so much. Welker looked like Steve Smith in college. He had over 3000 yards receiving and nearly 500 more rushing. He also had 8 career punt returns for touchdowns and was named the best special teams player in college football. In spite of the impressive stats and great credentials, Welker wasn't even invited to the about getting snubbed!

Sanzenbacher was a blue collar guy in college. People compare him to Wes Welker because he's short, white and unheralded but it might be more accurate to compare him to Dallas Clark even though Dallas is much bigger and plays the TE position. The reason I make that comparison is because Dane finds a way to hurt teams for forgetting about him. That's how Clark made a living in Indy. Teams are so concerned with Reggie Wayne and the other wideouts that they let Clark gain a matchup advantage. The problem is that Dane was this kind of guy in college.

Sanzenbacher never faced an opponent's best coverage specialist. That guy was draped on Posey along with a safety helping out deep. Teams also had to contain Pryor so Sanzenbacher often drew 1 on 1 coverage from the team's worst coverage specialist. Every DB in the NFL is better than any DB Sanzenbacher caught a pass on in college.

Sanzenbacher will not be the next Wes Welker. He's a classy guy who works hard and if he exceeds expectations he might be more like Steve Tasker, but Dane will never become a significant threat at as a receiver.

I wouldn't put too much stock into what Gruden says. Gruden never proved himself as a great judge of talent. He didn't call the shots with the Raiders and his most successful season came when he took over Tony Dungy's team in Tampa. After winning the Super Bowl, Gruden took over more of the front office and the Bucs got worse.

I hope Dane makes the cut and has a good career. I'd be thrilled if he serves me up a big plate of crow and becomes on of the best receivers in the game, but I won't hold my breath. He was a good receiver in college --Not great, just good--- and time after time we have learned that good doesn't cut it in the NFL. They chew up and spit out great college players every year. They don't care how hard you work or how classy your personality is. It's all about making plays. Dane's margin for error will be miniscule and he'll be lucky if he makes the first cut.

Why would they? It's not like signing a couple of RFAs from Ohio State will sell tickets. The Browns and Bengals need to find players who can help them win and the remaining Buckeyes don't fit their needs. You can only invite a certain number of players to training camp and you need to make sure every one of them is somebody who can help you improve. This isn't a charity case.

That's great news. I've been a Bears fan for years & I love seeing them sign former Buckeyes. They have had many Buckeyes on their roster.

Terrelle Pryor made him what he was at OSU. Could Joe Bauserman or anyone else on their PRESENT roster have made Dane a star? Talk all your BS that you want about Pryor, but he is gonna make it in the NFL because he is a gifted athlete. By the end of the 2011 season Luke will make you puke!!!

Apparently GG is unaware that vacated wins mean "as if not played". That does not make it 0-13 but 0-0. Start over; back to the books, GG, if you can read.

Happy for Dane. Would have been great to see him go to the Browns and pair up with McCoy. In other news, seems Toxic Pryor got on this board early and Judged early positive posts negatively. No surprise from the cosmic POS that he is.
