PATHETIC !!! I have said all season: Fire Maturi ! Fire Brewster! Adam Weber is a fair Divsion 11 quarterback. I thought Brewster was hired because he can recruit! It appears he is at his best when recruiting second tier also rans. With his extension we are looking at another decade of also rans. Glen Mason recruited players that made it into the NFL and we cut him for this guy. Athletic directors at Big time football programs get rid of a mediocre coach in a hurry, as Florida did with Ron Zook! At Minnesota we give then an extension!

Obviously selling 1900 tickets to the game does nothing for Minnesota's image of being a "poor traveling" football team. Where are the Gopher fans who want to spend a few days in the sun? The Cyclones sold 8900 and the Hawkeyes will sell triple that for a trip to Florida. Brewster and the Gophers need some support!

On January 15, 2007 it was reported on ESPN.com that Brewster was the choice of University of Minnesota athletic director Joel Maturi to replace Glen Mason as the Gophers head coach. Various local news outlets, including WCCO and the Star Tribune, could not confirm the veracity of the report. The following day, January 16, Minnesota associate athletic director Tom Wistrcill confirmed that Brewster was indeed the University's choice, with the contract signed in the early morning. He was officially presented as the new head coach on Wednesday, January 17 at the McNamara Alumni Center on the University of Minnesota campus. At his first press conference, Brewster stated that his immediate goals for the program were to "win the Big Ten championship" and "take the Gopher Nation to Pasadena."

We're still waiting Tim!

As a Gopher fan and U of M alum, I am ashamed and disgraced by this team year in year out. I will be donating my hard earned money to winning programs when I write my checks this year... the Ohio State and Texas because that's what I support -- winning.

Brewster is a complete joke. Maturi, you need to leave the university too.

Heck, I'm embarrassed to wear Gopher apparel to my own gyms here in MPLS!

Sooo, Mr. Athletic Director, exactly where does your biggest revenue producer, the football program stand versus where it was when you fired Mason and hired Brewster?
Never mind I will tell you, exactly the same as Mason's last year. 3-5 in the Big Ten, 6-7 overall record, both the same in 2006 and 2009, both ending with humiliating losses in a minor bowl game. So the bottom line is, there has been no progress with improving the football program at Minnesota other than a shiny new building since the Huckster took the reins. And then you give this guy an extension. He has done nothing to make Minnesota football better. If anything it's regressed since Brewster became head coach. Both of you should take the first bus out of town. NOW!

Anyone who thinks Brewster is ever going to have a winning Big Ten season is delusional. I will never go to another game at TCF if this man is still coaching the Gophers

Wow, those extra 15 practices sure helped! I didn't see the game (brilliant move having a college football bowl game on NFL Network), but the article makes it sound like all the scoring was assisted from defensive turnovers and a fake punt on special teams that was caught by a defensive player. I've seen reports that if Mike Shanahan takes over an NFL team that Jedd Fisch will join his staff. One more system for Weber to learn before he graduates. What a freakin mess.
Fire Brewster now, or there will be 10,000 empty seats at every home game next year. After Brewster is fired next fall, the new stadium will have all the excitement of the Metrodome. My twentieth season as a season ticket holder is in a few years, if Brewster has another pathetic year next season and is replaced by a no-name assistant coach, I think I'll be joining the 10,000 season ticket holders who give up their tickets the next couple years.
Question: If nobody between the ages of 21 and 70 goes to a Gopher football game in two years, will anyone care about beer not being served at the stadium?

There are some good players on this Gophers team, and many are young . . . that being said, I think the Gophers results are indicative of a fair team that remains several key players short of really being competitive.

Most people lose their jobs for being incompetent. Others get an extension.

1961 Does that ring a bell for any of you out there? For the young ones, that date is the last time the Gophers went to the Rose Bowl. Eller,Bell,Stephens,Brown,Dick son,Nash, Warmath names that brought pride and integrity to the game. Now we have Maturi, Brewster. This team has more problems then just trying to win on the field of play. They have lost my season ticket.I have supported this university long enough, fool me once shame on U fool me twice shame on me. I will no longer be your fool.

Again we have evidence of a losing team, a losing coaching staff and a losing program. Maturi is going to continue this foolishness by giving Brewster an extension. Just another government perpetuating government waste. This also proves that New Stadiums do nothing but cost $$. We have receivers that can't catch, kickers that can't kick and linemen who rely on Flab rather than skill.

Please also remember that Murray Warmath was Hung in Efigy a couple of years before their successes.
