Ahh haaa. From the school that hired Bobby Knight!
I was not too happy when Tech hired Bobby Knight. What we knew about Knight was that he was a good coach, had great teams, and was a hothead. Little did any of us know that he also built character and demanded his players go to class and actually get an education and graduate. Knight had one of the highest graduation rates in the country. So he was a little unorthodox, so what. The man got results on the court and in the classroom. Same for Leach. Leach's had one of the highest graduation rates in the country way up there with Joe Pa at Penn State. I can only hope that UTEP hires Leach and bring some excitement to Miner football.

Leach heard CAAACHINGG!and a way out of his contract and took it. The school adminstration is just too stupid to realize that they not only paid Leach for the remainder of his contract, but he can no coach a real football team. TT was/is good, but those players are too small and slow to compete with bigger schools.

Typical EXTREME STAGE father! How embarrassing for the son to see his father acting like a pre-kindergarten parent!
What, the son doesn't have the "#@lls" to stand on his own? How embarrassing!!

Why would you think he would come to UTEP for a mere $400,000 plus, when schools that can afford to pay a coach will offer him better deals? UTEP has the best coach, for what it can pay, in Price.

Tech needed the extra money to finish on its stadium expansion....so they fired Leach before paying him the $800,000. Just joking but Tech is struggling financially in it athletics. Basketball never got going in attendance with Bobby Knight coaching much to Myers dismay. Football had good attendance but Leach never was a Myers person. Now that high flying offense that could compete in the Big 12 is gone, football attendance is going to be down, booster money (some) is gone, the team will be down. Now where is the money going to come from? They had to borrow to finish that 6 million expansion to the stadium. They had it good..for Tech. Sometimes don't regret what you ask for: a different coach. ESPN should be ashamed for the platform it gave James. He got Leach fired. Do you think if it had been any other parent, we would have had the same result? Good luck in James with his Senate run. Don't think I will be voting for him.

Are you stupid?
These were teh same players that beat All mighty Texas last year. They were the same team that beat big bad OU....wait, they DESTROYED OU this year. They were the same team that produced Michael Crabtree....yeah, he's too small and slow to play.
Idiot
Every dog has his day and TT had theirs last year. Kind of like the ELP schools that score well on TAKS and then everyone wants to go there. Give me a school that scores well on a regular basis and I'll be there, but give me one like TT and I'll wait until their program grows a history.

UTEP can be his rehab project. Take a small program and grow it into something good. ELP could give Leach a tax abatement on his properties that he could buy in ELP dirt cheap. Pretty sure if Leach come on board UTEP football would be a sellout every game.

Tech gave Leach, what, a 5 year $13 million deal? That's $2.6 million/year. True that's a chunk of change, but if UTEP is serious about improving its football program and turning it into something competitive year in and year out, then the wallet's gonna have to be pried open. It'll cost a lot up front, but that will be made up quickly with 50,000 butts in the Sun Bowl every home game, Bowl game payouts, and merchandising (not to mention boosters). Here in San Antonio, UTSA won't play its very first football game until 2011, but already has shelled out big bucks to get Larry Coker as its first head football coach. This is the same Coker who, in 6 years, led The University of Miami Hurricanes to 3 Big East championships and a national title (2001). I guess UTSA is more serious about its football program than UTEP.

I hate to think Stull and Natalicio are so short-sighted that they can't or won't see beyond the sticker price. Let me put it this way: pay $400,000/year and you get Price, 5-7 (on average at UTEP), 35,000/game, and only regional interest OR pay $1.75 million/year and you get Leach, 8-4 (on average at Texas Tech), 50,000/game, AND post-season bowl games with million-dollar payouts.

I don't see Leach coming to UTEP, though, because Cincinnati, Louisville, and other higher profile schools are looking for head coaches. Besides, why would Leach even consider UTEP when his salary would have to be scraped together like a bunch of teenagers scraping change together to buy a pack of smokes.

Just as long as these prima donna coaches win, who the hell cares that he may be a total a-hole, right?
After all isn't all that counts, winning, at any cost?
