As much as I hate to say this, but I think you have to look at coaching.

Coaching might not be the problem but this has happened to many times this year.

I hope everybody is frickin happy! You tell Vasquez to not play his game and instead you put the ball into hands of Hayes and Gist and others. Everybody said "O my God, Vasquez has 24 more turnovers this year then second place Singletary!!!" Well let me say this, when you have nearly double the assists, your bound to have a couple more turnovers. Let's brake this down, now the Terps have played 32 games, 24 divided by 32 is less than 1, right? So that means that Vasquez averages less then 1 turnover per game than Singletary!!! Now how many times have you heard anyone complain about Singletary turnin the ball over?.....probly never! Now i'm not sayin that Vasquez dosn't blow me away sometimes with his decision making but I am saying that if he averages less than 1 more turnover per game and has nearly double the assists, then what is the frickin fuss about? If you watched the game tonight, you know that Eric Hayes looked like he was purposly givin the ball to BC & Boom and Gist still cant catch! When you take Vasquez outta his game, the offense dosn't work! Maybe now all you fools can see this! Not to mention that when Vasquez doesn't get out and push the offense, the offense is stailmate!

This team needs an ACC caliber point guard in the worst way

They don't deserve to go further, given their play. In an addition to avalanche of turnovers, most of which were of the "bone-headed" variety, we saw Gist hobbled with cramps for the second game in a row. Why would not he have been doused in electrolytes to keep him from cramping up? Unbelievable.

They threw the ball away so many times one has to wonder what they could possibly have been thinking.

I am almost glad the season is over. It is so depressing to watch the Terps grab big leads and then fritter them away.

This loss was a appropriate end to this season, blowing another huge lead to a horrible team. It seems that when it matters this team gives up or just not to care. Next season doesn't look to be much better. As for this year it looks like another trip to the NIT if we're lucky.

I agree with Ron,B-Boy doesn't know what he is talking about. Vasquez has cost us about 6-7 games this year with his stupid play. Sure he makes great plays but 7 to 9 turnovers costs games. This team needs a guard to go anywhere. Vasquez is not the answer, Hayes just flat out stinks. I just don't understand how a team can have so many turnovers, make terrible decisions. This is the most frustrated season I can remember. If I am frustrated how to you think Gary is. Maybe they need a 100 point lead to hold on.

IT's the same story every year. Gary did bring us to the promised land, but there is a serious problem brewing here in Terrapin land. The last four years have played out almost exactly the same. Different players, same team every year. Something has to change from from the top, beginning with recruiting(not Gary's speciality)! The prognosis doesn't look good for next year either.

Actually I think the prognosis for next year will be better,we've seen good flashes from Bowie,Burney and Tucker and Mosley and Maze are the real deal,I think you'll see Bowie at the point,Vasquez at the two and Hayes coming off the bench, and I know Gary is loyal to his players but Dave Neal has done nothing since the shoulder surgery.I figure maybe DuPree and Gregory may transfer out and we could pick up a couple more committments and Gilchrist will be strong in the middle,Don't lose hope yet Terrapin NAtion, anybody remember Bob Wade?I think Tucker is starting to play better and if Milbourne hits the gym,he could be a sleeper,he just made some real stupid fouls tonight.

It's time to take an honest look at Gary's lack of recruiting. He never capitalized on the National Championship. His coaching style is too "old school" for today's blue chippers. Coaches at Duke and UNC don't yell at their players during the whole game. Who would want to come play for an old white guy who yells at you all the time?? It got old for Bobby Knight's players and it Gary's resume looks very thin next to his. Debbie Yow has to face up to the fact that Gary's time has passed !! New blood is needed now !!

Why is Gary Willimas allowed to stay? He is an embarrassment on the sidelines and his substituting makes no sense at all the past several years since winning the national title. I get tired of the announcers defending him and talking about his passion--he is an idiot yelling and carrying on. He should be sent to anger managment classes.

I echo the thoughts of previous posters who recognize that Gary's recruiting efforts and coaching style are not sufficient to compete in the ACC these days. If he doesn't want to change his ways, we need a change because right now we are a team with a little talent, and absolutely no heart or desire. Ever since I got to UMD in '02, the players have not liked him, and his style of cursing and yelling at players does more harm than good.

Eric Hayes should not be on an ACC basketball court. Although his shot is ok, he just is not a high level division I player. Hopefully the coaches realize this and send him to the bench next year.

This year should end now, we don't deserve the NIT.
