"Time running out for Gophers after 66-63 loss to Penn State at Williams Arena" what an absurd headline. i stopped looking at that star and tribune rag since i couldn't stand the pathetic reporting. moved to this paper hoping for better but obviously you have the same morons reporting on sports over here. time ran out for this team before the season even started!

when iverson came into the game, penn state went on an 11 point run. send him back to south dakota and have him take ralph with him. these 2 guys will only be a drag on the team until both of them are benched or gone

The player rotation sucks, can't blame Joseph for wanting to go where he can play the whole game. He may not be a better athlete than Nolen but he was a better all around player. This is not a team, Rodney and Ralph won't pass each other the ball-what good are these big time recriuts when they are not developing? It would be nice to see 7-8 guys that know how to play together instead of this mess.

That settles it! There can be no other solution to the continual choking demonstrated by this team since the second half against Virginia in the ACC challenge and so many second half's since then other than to get a new practice facility and to get it now! No time to waste here! I mean, just look at how Lou Holtz and his local water carriers said that the Gopher football team could not be competitive and win without a practice facility. And the folks were absolutely correct! Just think about all of the championships that have rolled in for the football team once the new practice facility came on line. Absolutely amazing!

Sampson and Iverson are in a slump? When were they ever any good??. The could play here for 10 years and still suck

We get no production from inside (other than Mbakwe) because of a combination of factors --
a) lack of offensive skill and any strong post moves to draw fouls
b) bigs do a terrible job of fighting for post position
c) wings do an awful job of feeding the post
d) no confidence in throwing the ball in there even when opponents guard our 7 footers with 6'4" guys

Hope the redshirt bigs can have an impact next year. Those positions should be wide open for competition.

Division IA is where the Gophers football and basketball programs belong. With Nebraska coming next year, the Gophers will win fewer and fewer games. Hiring and firing coaches every three to five years just jacks up tuition for all students and raises the hopes of promising athletes that are annually dashed on the false alter of Gopher Pride.

Minnesota basketball teams don't understand how to finish games and the football teams can't finish seasons. Except for the amazing run the Twins have had last decade, this is a minor league sports operation state. We all need to take a breath and determine what we really want to be. Successful at the level we try to operate in doesn't have a chance of working here, until we get serious about how to do it.

If we want to operate with the Big Guys, we have to spend like the Big Guys. If we are too timid and nice to do that, then let's go play where we can win.
