I love Ben Howland, but he just doesn't understand offense. Doesn't like it, doesn't care about it. Can't see how an outside threat like that opens up the whole court for the rest of the offense.

And he's gaga about Josh Shipp, who couldn't find the basket at all for the whole second half of the season last year. He went something like 2 for 29 over the space of three or four games at one point. This meant that all of the outside offense had to come from Collison or Westbrook.

All of that came to a head against Memphis, which collapsed in on Love (like every other team did) while people who shouldn't be taking long-range shots, like M'Bah A Moute, forced them up because by that time Josh either wouldn't take the shot or everyone know he was going to miss it. If Shipp didn't have brick hands, UCLA would have won that game because Memphis would have had to give Love a little more room and other players wouldn't have been trying to pick up the slack for Josh's pathetic outside shooting.

This team, with Roll playing, is the first team in many, many years to have a real outside game, but Howland is BLIND to it. Roll should keep starting as long as he's hot.

Roll definatly makes the offense much better. Excellent outside & 3 point shot
