When someone is handed everything their entire life, they don't realize how fortunate they are. Little effort goes into anything they do because someone will always bail them out. I think someone needs to learn a lesson here. There are thousands of kids who would greatly appreciate the opportunities that these athletes were given. We, as a society, need to have a no tolerance policy for athletes who don't know how to conduct themselves. Give those scholarships to someone who will appreciate them.

Its easy for someone to say something like Jasmine here. Ive had the pleasure of knowing Joey Mazzulla and his entire family personally. His Dad and uncle were coached of mine so i know the values that were instilled in him. He was never spoiled and worked for everything he has Hes was an honor roll student throught his tenure at Hendricken and excells at WVU in the classroom. When your up at 5:30 in the morning throughout ur highschool years shooting hundreds of jumpshots and conditoning drills to get to where he is at. If your a jealous or envious person that is one thing, but dont pass judgement if u dont know a thing ur talkin bout hun. Keep ur head up Joey we got ur back here in Jtown. one

joey mazzulla is overated, its crazy. at times he couldnt even dominate in the riil! he simply got lucky. what few people realize is that anyone can progress when they go to college. you sleep, drink, eat ur sport. joey mazzulla is extremely overated and im sick about hearing about this kid. rakim sanders is 1000000 times better

rakiim is a beast i wont deny that but i question his work eithic i work in pawtucket and i see him everyweekend there in that dump town. tell him to stay at school and away from the shit in his home town cause everyone wants a piece of what he cou;d potentially get. raw talent rakims got it.... work eithc it aint even close man. After that DUKE game Mazulla is certified, rakim dropped 23 against kansas but bc lost by 25, means nothing if they lose

Marky Liv should do a little more research before he starts putting someone on a pedestal. It is not okay to underage drink , act in an obnoxious manner, and punch a police officer in the face. Even more so when you are suppose to be representing a university that gave you a full scholarship. Every athlete knows that there are rules to follow. Apparently some think they are above the rules. You need to stop making excuses for people. Nobody here is the least bit jealous of anyone. We are just tired of the excuses. This kid has had problems in the past and he has obviously not learned from any of them. His actions were not just a mistake but proof of his character.

charges got dismissed fo a reason.... beacuase it was highly exagerrated. Yes underage drinking is illegal ill give you that. But to say this kid has problems in the past is so far from the truth it isnt even funny. your entitled to your opinion but you really have no idea what youre talking about. if he had gotten in trouble in the past i could understand but he hasnt ur gaging his character on this one event and i dont think its very fair... the real character test is to see how he progresses after this incident...and if he does something else by all means i reotrt on everything i say but i am highly optimistic he will have a successful stay at WVU....imagine coach K said this kid was the next Jason Kidd so lets see how this turns out Jasmine...ill be posting all season long hun

guess I shouldn't be surprised that the charges were dropped. This was exactly my point on August 1st. Athletes are never held accountable for their actions because someone will always bail them out. It's the wrong lesson society is teaching these kids. It will hurt them in the long run.
As far as him being the next Jason Kidd, his skills are mediocre at best. Anyone can have a good game or two. I'm pretty sure that most people outside of RI never heard of him. He better put his scholarship to good use in getting an education, because he certainly doesn't have what it takes to play at the next level.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on his true character. We obviously know two very different sides to him. I don't think a leopard can change his spots, but obviously you are hopeful. Keep the faith.

please ahtletes now or days are targeted more often than usual. officals jump at the chance to suspend college athletes it happens everyday, they are held accountable more than anyother athlete i think. we will see how he bounces back from this cause i know he already had. this is his first yr startin well see what hes made of

Jasmine, a lot of people have heard of him in RI. Seems like ur hating on him. And Marky u like him a little too much. He had a really bad attitude in high school basketball and he is a good player. Rakim is better but Mazzula is good and will be a great player at WVU his last 2 years...Wish he was coming to the Dunk this year

ACTUALLY PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF RI KNOWOF JOEY QUITE WELL AND WE ARE ALL ROOTING FOR HIM....
I actually guarded Joey in the New England Championship game a few years back IN VERMONT. They beat us and everyone here in Vermont knew who Joey Mazzulla was. I also faced Joeys team 2years before that in the Semi finals of another New England championship tournamen... I WAS ON THE Vermont state champs, he was ON RI... Bottom line is this kid has played amazing team basketball and keeps winning at every level. and is everything you would want for a teamate.
I GUARDED HIM IN THE NE SEMI FINAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN VERMONT YEARS BACK AND I WAS THE BEST DEFIENVIE GUARD, I WAS THE "STOPPER" FOR THE OTHER TEAMS BEST PLAYER AND UP TO THAT POINT WE HADNT LOST AND WE STATE CHAMPS ON THE VERGE OF GOING TO THE NE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, BUT HE WAS JUST TOO MUCH- FASTER, QUCIKER, BETTER THAN ANYONE WE HAD SEEN ALL YEAR. HE WAS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE TOURNEY, IT WASNT EVEN CLOSE.
