One play stuck out in A.J. Price's mind Saturday after UConn failed to win a winnable game. Full Story

Communication? Practice on helping out? Sounds easy, but obviously isn't. A string of cupcakes won't help much (except for Central Fla., which is no cupcake and capable of the upset).

The season is yet young, folks. Go Huskies!

calhoun has these kids mortified about leaving his man and switching off, when they do it and the ball reverses for an open look to the man they just switched off of he yanks them and berates the hell out of them, witch in turn shatters their self confidence, I dont think the kids need that they may need it in the gym at practice but not in the game situation

Jim went to Geno's school of Breates U. which in fact shatters a-n-y players confidence and is disgusting to watch. And I agree, save all the dramatics for either the locker room or a closed practice. I'm beginning to think that Jimmy has done too many TV commercials and wants to make it to daytime soaps with all the drama. He's the loser, not the players

"They have not defeated a ranked team since beating No.17 Washington in the 2006 Sweet 16 and have not had a signature victory in the last season-plus with this group." And they won't anytime soon, so get used to it folks.

the thing is about early season "signature" victories is..........you've got to schedule some good teams. i love the huskies.i absolutely do........but i can't stand the fact that all we play is cream puffs for the first 10 games (i know i know this year we added a couple of good ones but that's rare). the ACC plays the Big 10; the pac-10 plays the SEC. we play norwalk comunity college.

it's about getting ready for the Big East not padding the record!!!!!!!!

Jim Calhoun has to realize his infantile sideline histrionics are costing the team with the technicals he is assesed. Their was at least a four point swing in the game directly attibuted to his childish behavior. I wish he had the courage and intestinal fortitude to demand of himself the deportment he demands of his charges.

"At some point this season, this team will get it," said Price, who led UConn with 22 points and missed a long three-pointer at the buzzer. "We can play with anybody in the country. But moral victories, things like that, we're not really into. So it's just the little things we have to work on to step ourselves up to that elite level and get these tough wins, these close wins. We won't be coming up short at the end of the season."

This jerk is priceless, not Price. Jim, don't let this kid say these stupid things after an embarassing loss. This wasn't for a national championship, it wasn't even against a perrenial winner. It was the Zags. The little things AJ??? That's all that separates you from the elite programs?? Try again. And you'll "get it at some point this season" AJ?? When??? When you're watching the TV a-g-a-i-n to see if you made it to the Not In Tournament (NIT)?? Good luck. I'm a big Husky BBall fan, but I'm not liking this batch of buffoons at all. And I'm not liking Calhouns antics either. I've had enough. Jim, do you think that by constantly showing your displeasure for 40 minutes in front of a camera is going to help build or dismantle your team?? Maybe if you spent more time in the gym and less with Webster Bank commercials, we'd get a little more production out of you. Ya know, the UCONN A.D. does have options if you don't produce Jim!!! Now get your butt back into the gym and do something constructive with those felons!!!!!

This team?- is basketball stupid and given that the coach is great-it tells you all you need to know but them as individuals.

I remember the days when we couldn't get the NYC kids- I look back on them fondly!

Calhoun needs to go back to recruiting young men with grit and not huge egos. Look at this crop from NYC and tell me that they are not overated and spoiled.

Hopefully we can go back to the Freemans and Donny Marshalls.

All I can say is watch film of Detroit defense of 1980's, Joe Dumars and those guys and you will see what has to happen on good defense. this can be corrected! Go Huskies. These guys need serious competion they should be playing teams like George mason, LSU ,Virginia and other teams out of our league to get the road experience and toughness they need before BE starts!

As a Zags fan, my heart goes out to the UConn kids. There's a thread on the Gonzaga message board in which I said that and expressed disgust over Calhoun's treatment of his athletes, to which a poster responded succinctly, "Calhoun not only doesn't show respect for his kids, the school, his opponents, or his opponents fans, he's also guilty of having no respect for the game at all. To get beat, and then whine about losing to an "inferior" program is unsportsmanlike and downright pitiful. Have the balls to own up to a defeat and then find a way to make your team better. Or get out of coaching."

I dont think anyone is in a position to criticize Jim Calhoun's coaching ability or methods. The man built a Uconn program from the ground into a powerhouse and has won 2 national championships in the process. He demands the most from his players and his players understand that. He was right about Gonzaga: Uconn outplayed them
