Right decision. Rumour has it he was not going to be allowed to enroll anyway. We need character people in College Park, not a good basketball player with a checkered past.

I hope he's happy playing at Kent.

he didn't have a choice in the matter anyways, his grades would have never been close to good enough to get in. In unfortunate but these are the same kids that charlie was talking about not too long ago. Get whatever kids you need to win and the school's don't worry about graduation. Not that Gary has ever worried about graduation before....

Too bad he can't take Gary with him to Kent, assuming that he (Evans) doesn't get shot between now and the start of school in the fall. Given his history, he doesn't sound as if he's long for this world.

Yow and Williams continue to mismanage this program. Why did we let Maze go if we were never going to let Evans play? What a joke this program has become. I never thought I'd say this but I think it's time for Gary and Yow to go.

well, i guess the arizonas, fla states, and kansas states of the country are more forgiving in their goal to acquire the best players for their program. i can understand all the negativity, to a degree, and i am sorry for coach williams, he needed a player of evans ability, and was willing to give the guy a chance. something all of us at one time or another probably will need. like i said before, his two years here at motlow state, while playing was uneventful, and our bible belt community, never heard a single discouraging remark about evans. he performed, and did his academics as well. i guess those in the metropolitan washington D.C. have stronger values than we do.

Get a life! Guys like you who can't deal with anything but success are why our country is going to #@!%. Stop living your life based on how well your favorite sports team performs. What a total waste your life must be.

Someone with his criminal past doesn't care about the on-campus debate of whether UMD should accept a player with his troubled past. If Evans honestly cared about the way people felt about him, he wouldn't have a lengthy criminal record. He can't think that far ahead about consequences.

So, there's obviously something going on here other than Evans's change of heart about UMD. Somebody has gotten in his ear about playing somewhere else is most likely. Maybe, maybe UMD told him about conditions for his behavior and then he decided to back out.

However, one thing is certain: Evans's decision not to play basketball for MD has absolutely nothing to do with his past being brought up.

It's college basketball. C-O-L-L-E-G-E. A center of learning and higher education, not a half-way house for sport talented criminals or a minor league for the NBA. Let the kid play semi-pro ball if he's good enough, he really doesn't belong in college.

ROTFLMAO! Right! If you really were GWB you would just barely be able to spell C-O-L-L-E-G-E and would never have graduated from one if your dad hadn't funded an entire farking library.

HAHAHA, another recruiting blunder by Williams and company. Maryland is going to suck ass next year. Vasquez and Hayes have to be the 2 most unathletic guards in the country. And who do they have in the front court? What a joke. I guess Gary thinks he can get by just because he won a National Championship 6 years ago. Sorry to break it to you Terps fans, but there are no Juan Dixon's, Steve Blake's, or Lonny Baxter's on this team. It's gonna take at least another 6 years before you have a chance at winning the ACC.

He is 23 years old. He is about 4 years too old...He should be out making a living not moving in to a dorm room with kids 5 years younger...What has he been doing for the first 3 years of his 20's.
