Gist gave his coach, and his team, another gift last night: A career high. On a night in which the Terrapins were uncharacteristically cold in the first half, Gist kept them in the game against North Carolina ...

I smell some disapointment coming Weds. night for Dicky and the Dukies. I wanna see some tears at the end of the game from the crazies...that always makes me smile.

If they pull it off, I want to lick their tears off their blue painted faces. Cant get our hopes too up, because they are good. We'll see if Gary will adjust based on the first go-round. I think he will. Will it be enough?, we will see.

Vazquez would be the Second Maryland player to get a tripple double because Marrisa Coleman got one recently, she wight play for the women but it still is maryland team

don thanks for your articles. this team has turned their season around so much, it is hard to believe these are the same guys in december. i give gary a great deal of credit. we need to start believing what he says. he told us he like this team, but they are so young, they do the unexpected. the flex is working better than with any team, gary has had at maryland including the national champs. vasquez and hayes are really controlling the game. gist and osby are having a inside block party.

GO GARY AND THE TERPS!!! While Gist and Vasquez were the MVPs of this game, it's interesting to point out that Osby, who had 3 turnovers and didn't play his best game, still had 4 blocks, giving him 9 blocks in the last 2 games. WOW!!!!

Comments are appreciated. Duke has the horses and Henderson is a beast. if you watched the Duke/NC game you must be impressed with this guy's physical ability. Who can cover him? I have been impressed with Milbourne's defense so far. Did he have him in the last game. If we can stop Henderson we will win!

There is a highly sought after recruit from North Carolina
6' 11' power forward that had made a verbal commitment to MD. Any word if he is still intending to go to College Park?

Joe - if you are talking about Jennings, no he de-committed and I think committed to Louisville. I too think they are running the flex very well, but not better than the National Champs.

People have to get off Vaszquez's back. There were people at the game last night yelling for his head even though he had 15 assist. Gist and Boom might be crowd favorites but this team goes as Grevius goes and if he is on, we might be a top 20 team

It's nice to see so many positive comments. Of course after playing the way they have, the room for criticism is limited to specific instances. That said, the first ten minutes of last night were painful to watch; the rebound from that point on was nothing short of inspirational. Gary has them believing in themselves and they've definitely adopted the hibernated "never-say-die" attitude of the pre-Gilchrist years.

Have to say that Gary's face when receiving t he 600 win award was presented speaks volumes. It's not about him; it's about Terrapin pride.

I have to agree with an earlier comment that this team runs the flex offense better than any MD team under Gary, even better than the national championship team. I went to the BC game and every time down the court, they called and executed the plays. Let's hope everyone can keep playing the best basketball of their careers.

Great to see all of the positive comments for a change! Of course the Terps still have a ways to go, but they are moving in a positive direction. No, this is not a national championship team by any stretch of the imagination, but at least they are fun to watch again. At least for those of us that were in the half empty Comcast Center last night.

Speaking of which, any one heard from our racist bigot John AOL lately? I miss his totally irrevelant rants about world politics.

Nice to see the Terps break out the yellow threads ... and win the game ...

Yo SoMarRed - not a national championship team? If they play tough, mad, and focused, they can beat anyone. More a matter of conditioning and state of mind (be sure to get enough sleep, take care of the body, live well)- they seem to have the talent.

A good binding of the Devils should vault us well into the national rankings - nobody outside TerpTown seems to believe that the victory over UNC was representative.

Outstanding game last night by all, especially Gist and Vasquez. Vasquez has been inconsistent this season but last night he was only one rebound away from a triple-double!! When he plays under control, he is outstanding and Maryland is a better team for it. Duke will be a test on Wednesday, this team seems to learn well from their mistakes so I am hoping for an upset but it'll be difficult on the road. Maryland will at least start getting some respect outside of the state if they pul off the upset.

I can't believe they are playing so well. It almost reminds me of the 2001 team which was floundering in late January and then went on a historic run. WTG guys, I doubted you, but am here to say I was wrong.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying this team is better than the national championship team, just better in the half court offense. The '02 team had much more depth, better 3-point shooting, better fast break offense, and more size.

Keep it up boys!! Sounded like an exciting game to watch. Was the Comcast Center really only half full?

Be focused for Wednesday. This is a big game for the Terps... big game.

gold looked looked good..boom needs to get oxygen at sidelines though as no depth has him playing too hard for too many minutes
the no depth thing is bothersome but who cares if they keep winning or even losing with heart

The Comcast Center was not half empty. I don't know what that guy was checking out. Yes, there were empty seats but the students were well represented.
We were on the floor after the game to see the players mingle with their parents and fans, what a great group of guys.
Go Terps, bring home a win from Duke.
