Typical Terp game. Gary's teams have a way of not being prepared to win the big game (or is it they find ways to lose).Same script different players.

Shhh, don't tell anyone but the reason the terps keep losing is...our players aren't very good.

Maybe they should have practiced a little more rather than spent time getting their hair done. New "do" same rag. Ugh, another NIT one and out.

If I said it a hundred times the key to this team going anywhere is Vasquez. I have never seen anyone play the way he does, sure he has heart, scores points, but his turnovers is what is causing us to lose. When you average more than 7 turnovers a game, you have no chance. When he starts going wild, Gry should set him down. Look what happen when his turnovers were down, we won, the last 2 games he was horrible in throwing away the ball. The team also looks tired, Maybe next year.....

unfortunately, the terps look like a team that has run their course. they had a nice run, but, the lack of a bench, and erratic play has returned this team to the december times. there just is not any consistency anywhere. burney was a breath of improvement, but, he has been missing in action so long, that now is not going to help the terps secure a bid. maybe 3 weeks ago. he is athletic, big, strong, quick enough even with whatever deficiencies he was exhibiting in practice to improve this team. how many times, needed players, are not available, because of some missing element. mike jones, and now burney. i think burney with his deficiencies is better than anyone else coming off the bench up front.

Yet another clutch performance by Williams' "gang who can't shoot straight!" This is how many consecutive losses to the Hurricanes, a legendary basketball powerhouse? I'm not certain these guys could beat the women's team. When is someone in the athletic department going to figure out that Williams is taking this program in the wrong direction. He has five guys that play almost all of the minutes. Did he simply recruit guys who can't play in this league, or do they not respond to his methods? In any event, this team is a bottom half of the league team, and may be for years.

I'm confused. Can't win the big ones? Nat'l Championship not enough? ACC championhship not enough? Beating UNC @ UNC a month ago not enough? Don't the Terps, despite recent slump, still have a winning record in ACC and aren't they much closer to first than last? What's with you fairweather fans...offer some constructive criticism or go enjoy the NBA.

I agree that this is bad but I'm not gonna write them off yet they could still win their final three games and if they don't win out they could make a run in the ACC tournament. The Terps did screw themselvess by not beating the Hokies @ home but its not over yet.

Maryland's main problem is the students it attracts.......dumb, ghetto mentality. Intelligence is just as important as skill and Maryland will never ever have it again that whole campus is ghetto.

I agree 100%. I kept wondering why he lets Vasquez run the point, when he makes so many transparently awful decisions. Vasquez lost yesterday's game with his woeful turnovers at crucial times. He may be athletically, but he has rocks in his head. My other question is who drained the blood from Gist? After playing splendly for several games, he has been anemic -- fumbling rebounds, or having them stripped from his hands, getting his shots blocked, or proving unable to score from point blank range. What happened? Has he gone on a bender? Had a break up with his girl friend? Started staying up all night before games? He actually does look as though he needs a shot of vitamin B-12.

reportedly there is a 50-50 chance griefous will go pro in his native country next year..the problem is that hayes is not much better and bowie still thinks he is a ball boy. losing johnnie lucas's kid was a big blow...rumor also has it that Gary is getting tired (especially of Yow)
the talent is not any where close did anyone watch vols memphis game wow you have some lads that can play there calipari can get the thugs the pearl is getting them legitimately

and to the guy that thinks md is a ghetto...we graduate more movers and shakers than a lot of schools unlike dook our basketball team represents only .0008% of our student body who cares if they are dumb and don't graduate... the students that do are kicking dook's and georgetown's arses in the working world

The only reason they won the National Championship is because the players stepped up.Wilcox stepped in an destroyed opponents. That team made Gary. Are you happy because they played their National Championship at Carolina this year.Blew a 9 point half time lead against a team without a big man.Lost to Ohio and American.Maybe you should go back watching the NBA.They should play with that intensity every game.By the way I've been a Terp fan for 38 years.

The only reason they won the National Championship is because the players on that team had heart. This years team played their Championship game at Carolina. So what they beat Carolina and Duke every now and then. How come they blew a 9 point half time lead to Duke. How come they lost to Ohio and American??? I guess they were'nt up for those games or they didn't matter. I've been a Terp fan for 38 years and don't watch the NBA.

Overall, Gary has done a great job with this program. The problem is what we are seeing this year is becoming the norm for this program. Play well in some games and then terrible in others. There is no consistency. I think most fans expected more after the title, I know I did. I don't expect a final four every year, but they should not be a bubble team every year needing to finish strong just to get in the tourney. The program isn't as good now as it was pre-title from the mid-90's forward.

By the way how many ACC titles have the Terps won?? How many times have they lost to Carolina And Duke??? How many of the 600+ wins were against nobodies?? I guess you can't count them?? Why don't more All American's go to Maryland?? Why do you sit an All American like Mike Jones on the bench??? Defense?? Come on!!! How many really good players have never developed at MD ??? Let's see how Moseby does in Gary's system. Maybe next time Vasquez throws up a prayer I'll be happy.
I think that is constructive criticism or just fact??

Oh, lord, lord, lord. The Gary Haters are back.

Look, as much as people try to pin this absurd notion of "can't win big games" on Gary, the situation is much simpler. The players just aren't very good. Period.

--Vasquez is too erratic, his occasional brilliance not outweighing his persistent stupidity.

--Not nearly enough 3-point threats--or even 2-point threats, for that matter.

--Ekene Ebekwe appears to have bequeathed his horrendous inconsistency to James Gist.

They started flat. They peaked. They're on their way down again.

See you in the NIT. Briefly.
