Good point, Williams had problems in his early yeaars with no bench and the starters tiring in February. That seemed to happen again this year. The younger players don't have the stamia to play 34-40 every game and be fresh at the end of the schedule.

The biggest fault of the Clemson meltdown was Williams refusing to go to the players off the bench who had Clemson's number - Burnie and Bowie. Bowie alone would have stanched the bleeding enought to hold on to the victory just by breaking down Clemson's defense with a few drives as he had done every time he got off the bench. Instead, Williams left a confused Hayes, distracted Milbourne, and ineffective Osby out there and let Vazquez spoil what had been a decent outing for himself.

He's overrated as a point guard. Vasquez is like a shortstop who makes the diving play in the hole because he was out of position in the first place - then boots the routine grounder and a potential double play. The play in the hole gets him on ESPN, but his team takes it on the chin when the other two runners score to win the game. His ratio of screw ups to "good" plays is not acceptable, although the media just finds him irresistable.

And writing articles like this one just stir people up so we read the article and argue about it. You never break down his turnover to assist ratio, shooting percentage, or threes percentage. Too much work, and too many folks to fire up.

I agree Greivis is not a point gaurd, and I love Gary, but he is to blame for giving the ball. There are some decent options off the bench, and if no one else can bring the ball up court then Hayes needs to come off the bench.

They would be a lot better on offense with less dribbling. They don't need Steve Blake to run the type of O they ran for Dixon and Baxter.

Grievis could, and should be a great 2 gaurd in a triangle type offense, catching at the elbow coming off a double, big man screen, not a dribble happy, turnover waiting to happen point gaurd, this late in the season.

Shuffle up the lineup and scheme. Gist should be able to advance the ball on a 4, or let Milbourne bring it up.

Good for you in pointing out that no-one else was willing to step to the forefront - it's a young team, and only one guy was willing to put it on the line. It didn't work out; fans, get over it. If other teams blanket Boom and Gist, hang on for the ride, because nobody else is a proven scorer. Until we get a mobile big man to seal down the center, it's gonna be entertaining to see what happens! Vasquez should keep doing what he's doing, everyone else needs to pick it up.

Right on here! The article could use some balance of statistical data to add some zest to it. Plus, more depth regarding Vasquez's turnovers, which are integral towards the team's losses. I feel that IF Vasquez could protect the ball better/reduce the turnovers, he has all of the other assests to being an All American and potential lottery pick. IF he reduces the turnovers.

Actually I agree with some of David Steele's point's,which scare me,but I disagree that GV should continue to do what he is doing. The point gaurds job is to run the offense, oftentimes players are standing around because they have no idea what Vasquez is going to do,heck sometimes I don't think he has any idea.Do a little research Dave, put some teeth in your argument ,like when is the last time any school went far or got into any NCAA tourney with a point gaurd with an almost 1 to 1 to/assist average.Never might be the answer.Would actually be nice to see some Sun reporters do some statistical breakdown every now and then, especially since the Sun itself never seems to at any level,be it sports or political.Go Terps,Beat Virginia.
