Va Tech has had the terps number for 3 years now. Just like the terps play great against the dukies and the heels, the hokies play lights out against MD. I think they thought the game was over, especially leading by 14 points. Gist is the issue. He was asked to step it up earlier in the year, yet he keeps playing an inconsistant game.

The problem with Maryland's bench is that 2-3 of the current starters should be bench players.

When is Hayes ever going to stop playing like he's afraid? Just curious

I've been a die-hard fan of the Terps since I was a teen. I'm hard pressed to remember an uglier performance than yesterday's loss. The commentators kept saying how well VA Tech played...but they didn't. Maryland purely gave the game away. I've never seen so many stupid passes on offense. How many times did a guard out around the 3 pt arc make a dumb pass inside that go picked off by VT's D? Neither team deserved to win that game. I've never seen so many turnovers. If we actually had shown up last night we'd have beaten VT easily. That game was an abomination.

Hayes and Vasquez were a better combo last year with Hayes running point. This year Vasquez offsets his offense with far too many turnovers, and far too many shots to get the points he gets. His ego is out of control too, and it's starting to show in the media. Soon, that same media will be stoking the situation, looking to stir up some Gilchrist-like controversy.

For some reason GV get s to play recklessly with impunity whereas every other player hits the bench after a screw up, or just for the hell of it. I know I've witnessed Hayse get pulled after stroking a 3 on multiple ocasions, instead of running plays for him when he has a hot hand. Now his brain is scrambled eggs out there. GV meanwhile just flails around doing his thing, waiting for an interview opportunity to tell us all that it's not about him. You can't have a point guard taking more shots than the rest of the team, especially when his percentage sucks. it just throws everyone else out of sync and destroys the offense - and you end up with a point guard with 22 points on 28 shots, 8 to 10 turnovers - and a loss.

Most Hokies respect the University of Maryland and its athletic teams. We do not have the dislike for you that our Cavalier brothers have.

I must tell you, however, that the attitude of many of your sports fans is something else. You have lost 4 out of 5 of your last bb games to Virginia Tech, you've never been in a football game with us since we joined the conference! Truth is, we all smile in Blacksburg when we see you coming!

So I suggest that you play nice. I work and associate with Maryland grads every day that are wonderful people and a credit to your university.

Once we get over this "better than you syndrome" you can say you just were outplayed Wednesday night.

By the way, I wish you well the rest of the way.

Let me tell you guys something.....I went to Maryland from 69-73, and I remember some REALLY crazy stuff. Get this: Jim OBrian was in my Math 10 Class, freshman year. He had flunked a test with a 27, OK? I think passing might have been 50 on the curve, but anyway, I remember I was the second to last to leave the classroom, and I heard him tell the lay teacher,"Man, I studied really hard, Im really trying." I heard the lay teacher whisper to him as I am walking out of the room,"Thats ok, Jim, we'll forget this one." I barely passed myself! Another time (and you talk about Gary screaming) a few of us were cutting through Cole to go to another class and Lefty was running a coaching practice (1970)McMillian, Mo Howard, Howard White, O'Brien, Bob Bodell, Lenny Elmore, Rich Porac etc were out there, and Lefty screaming at them, then at us: Close those fuckin doors and get out!!!!!! I doubt if Gary is that nasty, but you never know..........
