The Maryland Terps have sealed their fate to the NIT with another "woeful" performance last night in Charlottesville.
This team is really performing badly and will probally be out of the NIT after the first round.
Even the most "diehard" Terps fan can't complain about going to the NIT.....they have EARNED the NIT berth with their poor, lackluster, and woeful play down the stretch!!!
Maryland is just not a good basketball team....and coaching is not good at all either!!

After the past few seasons it is plain to see that the losses of Billy Hahn, Dave Dickerson, and Jimmy Patsos from the coaching ranks of the Terps far outweigh any player losses or play. I would love to see what the W-L record was before and after all of these guys left(especially Patsos and Dickerson). Not saying we need to make a change but I think Patsos at MD sounds pretty good right now.

Stupid statement. If you really believe tht is why they recruit black guys to outplay the white guys, you have a problem. Maryland is just not that good. Overrated ballplayers, and poor defensive skills cost them many games. You will never win with as many turnovers as Maryland does a game. Gist has become a forgotten man. When they all play together and no turnovers they have a pretty good team but that only happens once in a while. Very frustrating team. A team with potential who got worst and worst. Wait until next year...

Hey Gary, if you need for Gist to be an inside presence, how about telling him? How about telling him with some authority? Not the stupid yelling and screaming. Just take him out. Sit him down and make him watch. This game is not rocket science. Not only is he not going down in the paint, but his mental lapses as a senior just about kills any chance 'your team'has of winning. How about putting the other players in better positions to compete? It really doesn't matter though, you've been using the same strategy for four years. I guess everyone knows your way is the best way. I personally beg to differ!

I was at the game last night in C'ville. Someone called it a Matador Defense and that is exactly what it was. Nobody that seriously played defense would give up 91 points. Makes no sense. Just a total lack of desire.

Grevious Vasquez was out of control (as usual). He gave up as much (or more) than gained for the team. If he would stop his bonehead turnovers and play with some consistency he could be good.

I will always appreciate what Gary has done for our University. He's had a Hall of Fame career. That being said, we need to get a new coach. Williams quit coaching during the Clemson game. His players quit playing for him last night.

Maryland has no heart. They need a better offense than the stand and watch one they have now. How can a program that won it all 5 years ago get worst then better? Gary better find a coach who can recruit inlelligent players. Bring Billy Hahn back. He knew how to find players. The NIT is getting old.

Stick a fork in them. They're done. They were medium rare after the 2d VaTech loss, medium after the Miami loss, medium well after the Clemson debacle. Now they're burnt to a crisp. Gist is a palimpsest of Terrence Morris, Vasquez plays like the scarecrow in the Wiz of Oz (will someone give that guy a brain?), and the entire team has the heart of the cowardly lion. Give 'em a backbone transplant.

And GW needs to hone his golf game, for he'll be spending a lot of his time on the links at some golden age retirement community if he doesn't turn this program around. Come to think of it, he should probably be working on his putting game now, for we are overdue for a change.

A team that goes 18-14 does NOT even deserve to go to the NIT.

No, I really believe they recruit the black guys for their SAT scores and GPA. What was I thinking?
<quoted text>
When one considers the graduation rate for Maryland 'mens' basketball under Gary Williams (ZERO) the lowest of EVERY ACC school, it's easy to see they didn't recruit ANYONE for their SAT scores and GPA.

Homo?Juan, Lonny, and Wilcox won that Championship. It wasn't Gary's coaching. And who do I like? I like your girlfried. Bring her up here and see if she goes back down to that trailer park hometown of yours. You're probably still getting over the fact that she's now sleeping with the brothers.

Ant Gary, not to stick up for B-more (whose loyalty to GW I don't share), but Southern Pines is hardly a trailer park. It's a golf links mecca. I don't know what the median income is there, but I'd wager it's well above the national average.

Absolutely pitiful.

I have never seen a less inspiring performance from a team that had so much on the line.

Whatever Gary said to his team this week, before the game and at halftime must have been less than motivational because this team has ZERO heart.

The good news for me is that my financial contributions to the Terrapin Club will be considerably less in 2008.

I'm not even sure if I want my football tickets any more.

The school's programs are starting to revert to their late 80's / early 90's form and it is 100% COACHING.

Very sad. Very sad indeed.

Eric Hayes. Three points. Time to make the change at the 2 guard. Either Tucker or Bowie should be starting and either would make Maryland a better team, Tucker with his height and Bowie with his speed and driving ability. Eric Hayes would be a better fit coming off the bench, even if he is over his head in the ACC. Maryland got seven free throw attempts last night and none in the second half. Virginia got 28. In fact, only two foul calls against UVA in the second half. I don't care what court you're on or where you're playing, the officials and the ACC were protecting Singletary's career. What a farce. Maryland has never gotten a fair break from the Southern Coast Conference when it comes to officiating.
