I am by no means a "fanatic". Afterall, it's just basketball. I don't "bleed blue".

I agree more players need to focus on their education, instead of dreaming about the NBA.

i do bleed blue and am a fanatic fan. and i have gone into mourning ... one thing i do agree with is a player is a student also. i hate it when they leave early for the NBA. I BELIEVE. there should be a NCAA rule that when a player leaves without graduating. they should repay the scholarship they have used.. if they graduate. they dont have to repay it.. they do have it backwards being athlete/student.. should be student/ athlete..

I'm not a big basketball fan. Football is more my thing. I'm looking forward to see if Joker will continue Brooks' streak of improvement for the football Cats. Alot has been done to correct the mistakes made by ol Hal and hopefully we'll get more outstanding recruits this year for the team.

It is the NBA's fault...We cannot blame the players for jumping ship to become a millionaire. Sure, we want UK to be tough, but as long as top-notch players sign at UK, we will be subject to loose them to the NBA draft...

While I agree that a college education is a good thing to have, why do we go to college? To get a good job...Right? How many people can graduate from college and make as much money with their college degree as Wall and Cousins will make next year? None. Patterson got his degree in three years. We attend college to prepare for our future. Their future is pretty much solidified. As long as the NCAA does not require more, the real good ones will move on. It's a no brainer.

No brainer? I don't think so. What happens when they get hurt after a year or two or they dont perform the way they should & their NBA career is done. You honestly think these guys don't start pis*ing their money away as soon as it falls into their hands. Then what? They can't play, have no education & basically have no money. Look at all the big names that have went broke in
all areas of sports. Its sad that they think bball will be their lifetime careers.

For some it is an opportunity.Sucessful Examples are Koby Bryant, Lebron James, Kevin Garnet, and Rajon Rondo... No one in their right mind would pass on an opportunity to be like them...

Most professional athletes do have managers while investing their earnings into legitimate business opportunities to which is a cushion for income in case one day they do not play ball. Most are responsible adults that can make a sound judgement on their future.
I think of Bryant Grant who I have known thru out life, he played for Xavier. When young his own high school would not look at him until his uncle practiced daily to encourage him to seek out his talent. His junior & senior year in high school finally a young coach put him out on the courts for all to see this kid who played late at night in the dark hours with his uncle only to become a player in the NBA.
His family was poor but proud and with that Bryant Grant worked hard and invested himself to making his families life better.

When Bryant was little around 6 or 7yrs old he would tell me often that someday he was going to get his mom a house. Not where the floors were rotten and the water pipes leaked. He wanted his mom to be able to have life easy and not be working in a factory.
Bryant Grants dream was his family.

Education is great for some, but for alot of common folks the determination and dreams of tomarrow is enough to make a person successful in life.

That's why they have hugh insurance policies and make enough money to pay for them. Nobody thought Rondo should leave either. I'd love for all them to stay but understand why they wouldnt. For Wall and Cousins, I'd even question their sanity.

i think they should remove the college requirement. its a job! if they can do the job without going to school, whats the big deal?

let the ones that can, go on, and the ones that can't stay in school and get better.

How about this. Each school gets 15 scholarships for basketball. If the school has a player leave without transfering or graduating, the school loses the scholarship for the remaining time that player should have been in school. A school could end up with 2 scholarships for one season. This would make coaches recruit true student-athletes.

Things are going to stay either have the rule high school players can jump right into tje league or suck it up and have them stay one year

Some websites are reporting that five UK players will be leaving. I guess that is another version of the Cat Walk.
