You supporters are great! Go Bucks! It amazes me how many people on here have such strong opinions that any coach or real player who really understands the game would just laugh at.
Matta does need to learn to trust his bench a little more. Simmons and Hill can buy some time and they needed to last night. Unfortunately, the missed free throws and short shots late in the game are signs of that. Turner says he didn't feel tired, but unfortunately he was.
But hats off to these kids and Coach Matta. Contrary to what people say, they all play defense very well. People rip on Diebler all the time, but the kid is a flat out smart player and Buford was just off last night. When he went to the line in the second half, you could see he found his shot and started shooting with more confidence. Unfortunately, he got a little too confident and shot up some bad/quick 3s. These guys are good, but last night Purdue showed how to beat the Bucks. Play them physically as the Bucks are not deep and play with more finesse. Physical play, as anyone who knows the game will tell you, wears you down much quicker. I personally thought the officials were a little bad last night. Not consistent at all and the one seemed a little one sided towards Purdue, but that's just how it goes.
I think they will learn from this, and Matta will learn from this. He has been very successful, but all you nay-sayers about Matta are prolly they same that would have been calling for Tressell's job had he lost the Rose bowl this season. Matta's record is about a top 5 record in in all of active college bball and Tressell is the most successful coach in the BCS era. You people are just stupid and uneducated. Learn the facts and then try, just try to actually make and educated remark.
And I bet you think junior Georgie Bush was an outstanding president, too...

If you know sooo much about coaching and playing ball, why don't you help the team out and talk to the coach about getting ready for the tournament and trying to work in some substitutions to rest our top six, so they can be ready to shine during March Madness...

Seems like i read these same comments after the Purdue football game, football team went on to win the Big Ten and Rose Bowl, hope the baketball team can go on and do as well in Big Ten Tourney and NCAA.This team does seem to have a few problems though,Lighty is a good slasher, but can't finish or rebound,Diebler good three point shooter, can't rebound or shoot inside three point arc,Buford seems to show up when he wants to,Lauderdale lacks defensive skills can't shoot from two feet from the basket,Turner can do it all, shoot, rebound and pass, but he can't carry the whole team on his back. That said the team still has 20 wins.Oh I Forgot the bench,oh well forget it.Go Bucks win the next four games.

Well, there is a pattern on this board. Boo birds and fair weather fans posted early. True fans and loyal buckeyes post later. I'm glad there are plenty of real fans to balance the complainers.
If Matta was the sort of tactician who drilled his players into rote, set plays he might not be as good a recruiter as he is. If the bench players were in the game more and throwing the ball away and not scoring, the same complainers would wonder why Matta doesn't use his starters more.
The fact is that Matta has put together one of the best 6 year segments in OSU basketball history. They have made the Big Dance every year but one, won the Big 10 Championship twice, won the Big 10 tournament once and came in second twice. All withouth NCAA violations. Who do you wish was the coach, Kelvin Sampson? Shaddup and cheer!
May I ask a question of you???What good is a five star recruit if he/she has no coach to take the natural ability coupled with the previous level of instruction (COACHING) and enhance those talents with more instruction...As time progresses, mental ability and prowess take on more importance than natural ability because at the uppermost levels of most all endeavors thinking correctly for the at hand situation becomes a necessity...just a day or two ago the Dispatch ran an article on the mistakes made by military officers (U.S.) that caused the deaths of some American soldiers...The investigation into the mishap cited the lack of training as a major cause of the debacle...All this just to make the point; someone needs to drive the bus, or it will most likely crash, and in this case, our hopes for advancing in the NCAA tourney...

We played TERRIBLE and yet we still had a chance to beat the #4 team in the nation at the end. I'm not upset at all..just a bad night. If we play OK basketball, we win that game. It seems if though Matta's team operate better as an underdog..so maybe getting knocked down will be better in the long run?

my problem with this team is rebounding. this team starts 5 players all 6-5 and over. then only 1 player averages more than 5 per game simply disgusting. i have never seen so many players on the same team have such a low bb iq, and be as soft as they are. it is embarrassing how soft they are. then diebler and lauderdale. these 2 are complete waist of scholarships i have ever seen. i have seen grade schooler better than these 2. dallas can't play d, can't shoot, and can't rebound. why the heck do they even waist time on this bum. same for diebler how can u play bball and not be able to create your own shot just unreal. if it was not for turner this would be a sub 500 team. thad needs to bring in a coach to teach these guys fundamentals, because thad has no clue. it just unbelievable how terrible some of these players are.

Thanks for the info about which conferences are strongest. It was certainly high on my list today to know that.

There have been two or three games this season when Diebler played 40 minutes and didnt have a single rebound in the game. I honestly dont know how thats possible. I dont think I have ever seen that before and he has done it a couple times this year. I honestly think I could drink a six pack of beer and play in a collegiate game for a full 40 minutes and be able to grab at least one rebound.
