I think they should assemble small teams of ex-special forces and just turn them loose on the gangs. Just let them float around the country and eliminate them one by one.

I like your idea. I also agree with another poster who said no killing is random.

If by gangs you mean hippie yoga vegans, then your relatives are absolutely correct. Carrboro is the one place in NC other than Asheville I'd even consider living.

Unfortunately, Carrboro is quickly going down hill. The Northside area of Chapel Hill and the SE part of Carrboro are where the majority of the crime and violence take place in this area.

This murder, however, did not take place near Carrboro. This was well into Chapel Hill in a quiet residential area. It is shocking, to say the least.

Eve Carson was an amazing individual.

I hope they find the person or persons responsible for this horrible act.

This only goes to show, that there are some very evil people among us, that is willing to take away the life of very precious people, and has no conscience in doing it. This is so sad, that things like this happen. We can only hope, that with the new technologies we have in forensics, that this evil and dangerous person, who took this young woman's life, will be brought to justice.

Nancy Grace was showing some footage of this young woman donating her time in various volunter programs. She was aspiring to be a doctor and did alot of volunteer work. As a father of two it was gut wrenching to watch this footage and think that someone just took this person's life who had so much promise.

I sure hope NC has a death penalty so they can send the person or persons responsible a one way ticket straight to hell.

She was, quite literally, the epitome of a model citizen.

It truly makes me sick to my stomach.

If they don't know who committed the crime, how in the world can they speculate that it was random?

If this is the level of competence of the investigation team, then this case is in real trouble.

All the evidence points to this being a random crime, so far. The CHPD is doing an exceptional job right now with this high-profile case. Your comments are simply uncalled for.

The Chief of Police has been holding periodic media press conferences to update everyone, and there is nothing to indicate that she knew her attacker.

another reason to allow students to be able to carry a concealed weapon . criminals go there looking for unarmed victims i say its time to surprise the chit out of a few of these people committing these crimes. i also like the idea of turning loose some former special forces people. do like they do in a prison . post a sniper in strategic locations and at the first sign of trouble clean out their ears

The evidence points to it being random, because they don't have a suspect.....meaning it could be anybody at this point.

I've always had a problem with a "lack of evidence" indicating anything, its illogical.

By telling folks its random, you may cause them to quit thinking about the non-random. Something she might have mentioned, someone with whom she might have been seen speaking, someone in the SGA with whom she might have disagreed, etc.

In a high profile case, the police are better off telling folks nothing rather than telling something unsubstantiated and possibly wrong. Until the killer is ID'd and caught, "random" is pure speculation.

Yes, I was hard on the officer who made the statement. He WAS incompetent. That's not an indictment of the whole force, just of that officer in this situation. He should have been smarter.

This is so sad. Hopefully they'll find her killer and take care of him. No death penalty, life in solitary. Give him time to think about what he's done.

I know, "but death ends it". He needs time to ponder his error. No parole, no human contact, like the bastard suffer. Prep him for his life in hell.

I like how AC-T had to bring up that it was with a handgun, like it was the type of gun that pulled the trigger. Dopes!
