Do we know what Dyson is majoring in at UCONN? How's his grades? I hope he's making the best of his free education.

"I don't think Jerome had anything to do with that," Calhoun said. "Jerome had nothing to do with that." Why is it that Calhoun is incapable of seeing the reality of the situation? I mean, it was glaringly obvious that UConn was a completely different team in Jerome's absence. Jerome is a good kid - this is not personal in any way - but some things are too obvious to ignore. And yet, Calhoun continues to be unable to see that Dyson is a great athlete, but he is not a great basketball player. UConn wants Dyson to do what he does best — score in spurts and defend with muscle and will. Defend with muscle and will? Watching Jerome over the past two years, I cannot recall a single game in which Jerome played hard, straight up, in your face defense for more than 5 minutes - if at all. His defense consists of chasing his player after he let him go by him and attempting to make a glorious block by swiping his arm above the player. I wish the best of luck to Jerome. I hope that he really does become the player Calhoun thinks he is.

Dyson should have been kicked off the team when he got in trouble. This is a kid with a free education paid for by tax payers and that ohter people should be available to take his place. It should not be all about basketball.

"UConn wants Dyson to do what he does best — score in spurts" scoring in spurts = an inconsistent shooter (who often takes dumb shots) but that IS what he does best.

Yeah, sure, Calhoun's players are legitimate college students. And I'm a deaf musician.

Anyone that honestly thinks UConn was a better team without Dyson just wasn't paying attention. They were barely winning games during the win streak and Craig Austrie sucking balls forced AJ to become the entire team. Not a formula that's ever going to win you a title.

The team looked a lot better and won a lot more without him..Fact of the matter is that Dyson was over hyped from day one. He can't and never will be able to stand in the the shadow of previous UConn playes that there too many to name. He should have transferred during the summer along with the other dead weight.

Nothing but negativity from the majority of you. I am sure you all have coasted through life without fucking up, nevermind getting drunk or smoking a little pot.
Kids are kids for a reason, they havent had the life experience to make them adults. Jerome Dyson is a good but not great player, however he will undoubtedly help UConn win next year. I think all you Moral Monday Morning Quarterbacks might want to just chill out for a little bit and give the kid a second chance.

It should not be all about basketball. UCONN = Basketball = alumni entertainment. We love to see our UCONN scholars dunk the ball. I don't care if an engineering student from a middle class family cannot afford to enroll at UCONN, as long as I can see someone majoring in Communications hanging from the rim in the final four. UCONN = basketball = alumni entertainment.

The engineering student can get loans just like my kids and their partners did. I wish they could have had a free ride, too, but they didn't. We still all enjoy Uconn sports.

Yeah Calhoun might be losing his touch as a coach. He's not seeing the forest through the trees. The Huskies played much better team basketball when Dyson wasn't there. Dyson is the Stephon Marbury of college basketball--when he's gone teams improve.

first of all i have been paying plenty of attention, dyson screwed up the chemistry of the team, the team was better with out him and havin him back screwed up their mechanics.. Dyson is too flashy of a player, he was successful for us before because he was the one taking all the shots.. And this BS with engineering students, just like a smart engineering student may get a loan or scholarship for a free ride, someone talented and gifted in basketball will get a free ride especially when it brings a ton of revenue to the school which the school can therefore spend on its students or at least we hope Adam wrote: Anyone that honestly thinks UConn was a better team without Dyson just wasn't paying attention. I agree with the person who said that we should give Dyson a second chance. But I absolutely don't believe in third chances....which is exactly what Dyson is getting right now.

Overcoming adversity is what makes for great sports stories, Josh Hamilton is an example, some exceed, some crash and burn, I believe Jerome will succeed and look forward to watching him.

I think this kid is poised to have a MONSTER season! It'll be interesting to see how the minutes are carved up between Craig, Haralson, Jerome, and Nate - especially considering the fact that they likely won't need any of the natural 2s to help AJ because Walker is supposed to be a natural PG. Calhoun tends to go with experienced players though. Very much looking forward to the North Carolina game... should be a good one. They got blitzed early by Memphis last season but hung in there late so I definetely expect a CLASSIC battle!
