Oden can't shake the injury bug. Even the one year he played at OSU he was dealing with injuries. I feel bad, but he got his money so he can't complain.

Unfortunately Oden is injury-prone. He just doesn't fit in the NBA.

Sad to see such a decent and talented guy keep going down to injuries. He's still young and hopefully will come back either with Portland or another, team, but he's had hard luck.

I'm only glad he signed a big contract first. Should keep him economically protected even if the career crashes and burns.

Good luck, Greg!

Yeah, taking in $22 million over 4 years should work out just fine even if he doesn't play another game the rest of his life. But he will be a free agent next year so we will see what team is willing to take a chance on him.

Oden is a perfect example of why these kids must go to the NBA while they have a chance and get all the money they can, someone will take a chance on him next year for a much lower salary I mean Minnesota signed Koufus to a extension for next year and he has done far less than Oden has so far

Hahahaha...I highly doubt that after making $22 million he will need the $8.50/hr he would get at Walmart. Not everyone in the worlds life revolves around Walmart. That overgrown bum you speak of made more money in 4 years then your entire household will in a lifetime. So if you see that overgrown bum walking down the street, make sure you move out of his way. I'm sure you wouldn't call him that to his face. Oh, and that bum you talk about is actually a pretty decent guy. Stays out of trouble and works his butt off, just had an unlucky string of injuries. I still think he should have stayed along with Conley and Cook for at least another year or two, but money talks. People spend 40+ years of their lives chasing money to support their families, why is he a bum because he did it at a young age?

How much money did you make defending an individual who could care less about your very existence? You sports fanatics are really quite pathetic. Living vicariously through athletes and thinking that you are part of the team. When in reality you are nothing more than a clueless sheep handing over your hard earned money to a system that was built by fools just like yourself.

Never mind that the country is falling apart and taxes are through the roof.

Very interesting seeing how his salary is in the open and mine is not...Hmm I would venture to say I myself probably make more annually then YOUR entire family, the Walmart example was just that ,an example of how a lot of these over paid under skilled chumps dont make it and end up flat broke in a short period of time...Do you even watch sports? Clearly not the finacial aspect of it

Way to paint with a broad brush *and* pass judgment, not to mention tossing in the state of the country - which has not a thing to do with any of this.

Watching, and enjoying, sports is little different from taking in a Broadway show or patronizing the symphony - all things I happen to enjoy, by the way, and all of which involve how I choose to spend *my* disposable income. I don't live vicariously through a linebacker any more than I do a viola player, but I do happen to enjoy what their efforts produce. Doubtless you have entertainment preferences which could be criticized, but most people don't find it useful to impose their tastes on others.

I'll ask you the same question I ask of others who troll: if you don't care about sports, why are you even commenting here? Do you believe insulting the audience will result in some sort of epiphany ("Oh, wow, I've been a fool all my life!!") or are you just someone who feels that the only way to elevate him/herself is to bring down others?

I have no quarrel with any way you would choose to spend your free time and money, and respectfully suggest you show the same courtesy.

Flabuck always runs his mouth if you dont agree with him.He told me something similar and I was well into six figures by my mid twenties. And now twenty years later 100k a year wont even pay the bills around here.

Oden has the potential to be a NBA hall of famer but his delicate body won't allow it to happen. He'll be fired after the season and will have difficulty getting another contract. There is no market for a injury prone player that is a waste of money. He got his money so he should just retire. His fragile body isnt going to get better as he get's older. It's a shame because he's the best player out of OSU in 20 years.

It's funny because people like Do Tell who claim to make so much money can be pretty stupid. He made a comment that Oden is a bum and claimed he will be a greeter at Walmart. I simply explained that passing judgement on a guy that is actually a good person for the NBA (unlike many of the thugs that make up the league) and has made $22 million over 4 years is not likely to be greeting him at Walmart. To respond, Do Tell then goes on saying he makes so much money and probably more than my entire family. OK there buddy, as your salary is not published, neither is mine. But that doesn't negate the facts. The "bum" that Oden is made more in his early twenties than the guy calling him a bum will in a lifetime. By the way...to Do Tell and Harry...I know a lot of people in the business world. I know a lot of people that have made millions and a lot of people who struggle to pay their bills on a weekly basis. But one thing in my experiences with friends and business partners that I have learned is, those who claim to make the most money usually have the least. Especially those on an internet blog pounding their chest saying "100K doesn't even pay the bills around here". What a joke. Now jump in your KIA and get back to sweeping floors.

A good person for the NBA....Hmmm Because he does not have a criminal record? But Having greg shots of your self floating around by way of text messages shows that he probably should have stayed in school and got educated.Which also shows that he wasnt smart enought to know that he wasnt ready for the league in the first place...so according to statistics, and by the way I am in the business of numbers, his BIG 22 million would evaporate..or maybe you dont follow the research of uneducated sports figures.Your reference to driving a Kia really shows how ignorant you really are..I would have no problem commuting to work everyday in a Kia..Again look at the numbers retard

Just giving back what you dished out in the first place. Your reference to making more money than my entire family shows your ignorance as well. Saying that your salary isn't published holds the same truth as mine not being published, or my wifes.

"But Having greg shots of your self floating around by way of text messages shows that he probably should have stayed in school and got educated.Which also shows that he wasnt smart enought to know that he wasnt ready for the league in the first place...so according to statistics, and by the way I am in the business of numbers, his BIG 22 million would evaporate..or maybe you dont follow the research of uneducated sports figures."

It's hard to follow your post after the first sentence of this series. Having greg shots of himself? What does that even mean? Maybe you need to spend a little more time following the research of uneducated posters and stop worrying about the guys that make more money than you or I or anyone else on here could ever imagine.

You're a loser and a coward, not half the man Oden is. I doubt if even Wal-Mart would hire a punk like you.

Glad you're good with numbers, because you certainly can't write. Your own level of "education" doesn't seem to be very high.

Oh, shut up already. Are you guys going to compare the size of your body parts next?(Incidentally, I imagine Greg has you beat there, as well.)

This is a great take on Oden's injury issues:
