As for Howard, it is a VERY CLEAR RULE, if you elbow someone and receive a flagrant because of it, you get suspended it.
Actually, the rule says nothing at all about suspension or even a flagrant foul.*IF* they deem that an elbow makes contact above the shoulder you are ejected. Refs at the time saw the altercation, determined it was merely a technical, and everyone moved on. It affected the game zero.

Nowhere in those rules does it say anything about a suspension.

I'm not saying he won't be suspended (though it's ludicrous if he is), but the rules don't "clearly say" anything like what you suggest.

Either way, I still call Magic in 6.

You're right, it says nothing about being suspended. It says that he should have immediately been ejected from the game. If the refs enforced the rules correctly, the Sixers more than likely would be heading to Philly up 3-2 with a chance to close out the series on home court. With the technical foul called the refs obviously deemed the elbow made contact to Dalembert's head. There is no gray area in the rule. Howard should have been ejected. Period.

Well, they got their wish. Howard suspended for game 6. Too bad the Sixers still lose in 6.

l. A player, coach or trainer must be ejected for:
(1) A punching foul
(2) A fighting foul
(3) An elbow foul which makes contact above shoulder level
(4) An attempted punch which does not make contact
(5) Deliberately entering the stands other than as a continuance of play
Now I like the Magic, but Dwight should have been ejected. The elbow was blatant and made contact above the shoulders. For that reason (the non-ejection), the league really has no other option but to suspend him.
"It would be a shame if this series is influenced by guys in suits at the league office instead of the players in uniform on the court." - I get so tired of hearing this statement. The players KNOW the rules. When they violate them, THEY are responsible for the consequences not those who impose the consequences. Dwight sealed his own fate when he threw the elbow. He could have been (and should have been) ejected right then and there. Since he was not, I would bet he'll be suspended for G6.
I agree, it's unfortunate for us as fans to have to watch a game whether one team doesn't have their best player available but that's not the leagues fault. This reminds me when J Terry punched M. Finley in the WC finals a few years ago. At the time JT was the starting point for the Mavs. He was suspended, the Mavs were severely out matched and lost the next game although they went on to win the series when he returned.
Ummm...There is absolutely NO Rule about Guaranteed suspension.
Not sure where you are getting that from.
Guaranteed suspension is for:
If you leave the bench or flagrant foul 2.
This is up to D.Stern.
But then again, If I was Stern, Howard is sitting Game 6!

Is there something that fans can do to express their disgust at the whining, unsportsman-like conduct of the 76ers? Are their email boxes we can flood explaining that their crybaby antics give all of sports a black eye? Maybe throw a few thousand pacifiers on their bench if a game seven brings them back here?

Where is the whining? They're only pointing out the obvious and stating rules in the rule book.

I think most Sixers fans acknowledge that the Magic are a better team.

By the way, SVG is the king of whining so where do Magic fans get the right to criticize anyone?

You are a funny columnist. I think it says more about your crappy team that it can't beat the Sixers who you feel is so inferior. I can't wait till your sad team plays the Celtics, doesnt get the calls and that little **** Hedo cries like the woman he is.
Like boston is having such luck with chicago. Rondo has to resort to punching Millers teeth out to win the game.
