I think Nolan Richardson would rather coach the UTEP Miners than the Tulsa Shock. He was born here. He's a TRUE Bear decedent.

Adios Barbee... stating just a week ago that the team will be together and everyone was returning for another year....what a joke...its understandable to sell out..money is everything... Most of the coaches that have moved on .. have tanked and i don't see anything different.

It absolutely has to be Tim Floyd, he is part of the UTEP family, El Paso will support him more than anyone else. Who better? Floyd will remain loyal, he has already accomplished everything else in the coaching profession!

This one however is not all about the money. This one is for the Love of UTEP and the tranquility of El Paso.
Coaching at KU, Iowa, Duke, Texas, etc. will kill you from the stress of having to win ask Billy. You will not enjoy the millions.
why do you think he wants to come back. Hellow!! Here you can win every 3 years and go to the NCAA and people will be happy, especially if you are Tim Floyd. Coach Floyd will come here to win and make a statement. ah and to win a Championship

I'll tell you something either of them isn't going back for what UTEP paid Barbee, at least half a million to get either one, I highly doubt UTEP (10th poorest city El Paso) can do that.

These coaches are millionairs already how much more money do they need? They are not doing it for the money. If that was the case they could coach anywhere and I mean anywhere. everyone knows that. you are right this town is poor what does that have to do with anything?

I meant that athletic budgets are primarly run by donors. So the richer the area the richer the alumni, so the richer the athletic budget. Thats why smaller schools like Wichita St. can pay its coach $950,000 a year and UTEP can pay $300,000 to $400,000.They have more money. I'am a native El Pasoan, didn't mean any offense, just the facts.

tim floyd will get the position...450,000 to 600,000dollar range...he has already met with diana...there will be one condition-if the ncaa investigation faults him he will leave voluntarily with no buyout...bet me on this. the deal is off only if houston picks him first...wake up stull.

Get over it, Nolan isn't coaching here, and Floyd isn't a money issue. All schools trying to hire hire him are awaiting ncca clearing. The verdict on the Usc OJ Mayo situation wont be for a couple weeks. So utep and any other schools have to be sure there will not be any sanctions sanctions placed for hiring him, before they're decision. Its more complicated than you people think, but hope it gets done!

Tim Floyd will destroy UTEP, before everyone rushes
onto the "Welcome Home Prodigal Son" bandwagon, you
better take a long hard look at the man's career and
character (that is if character is factor in hiring
UTEP coaches, what with Mike Price,Billy Gillespie &
Rabs as examples, maybe character isn't an issue)
Tim Floyd's record at USC wasn't even that good, they
lost 10 or more games every season he coached, sure
they made the NCAA, sure OJ Mayo put them in the
national spotlight (mostly for the wrong reasons)
but at what cost? Tim Floyd does not run clean
programs, this has been an issues at every school
he's coached at. His stint with the Chicago Bulls
showed that the man has his issues and isn't as good
a coach as he was made out to be, in short hiring
Tim Floyd may get UTEP some national pub and maybe
1 or 2 decent season, maybe another NCAA bid, the
price that'll be paid will be high, just ask USC.
