Worse trade ever? Pedro Martinez for Delino Deshields LOL... I know that ain't basketball but that trade still bothers me!!!! lol

I really would like people to get their facts straight. It's so easy on the web, sirs...

Maybe it's time to throw away your Microsoft browsers, and get a real one: FireFox.

at the early stages of negotiations, the Lakers were supposed to get Wade instead of Caron Butler. Miami backed out and refused to give up Wade and instead, the Lakers settled for Butler. Yes, at one point Wade was part of the deal. Get your facts buddy!

That's at the early stages when there was NO agreement between the two teams made, I believe :)

Obviously the Lakers were smart enough to want Wade, and asked for him, but there was no formal agreement between the two teams ever made, is what I believe. Some idiot from the Miami team might have made a "tentative" agreement for Wade, but no "official" agreement was ever made, I think.

If the Lakers had a "formal" agreement to Wade and then backed out of it, is the only way for you to be "right", Lakers1.

from my understanding, they had a verbal agreement to include Wade and then backed out.

Okay. So, when Shaq went to Miami, before he signed, he was quoted as saying it would be "only if Wade" was there. So, somebody from the Lakers must have had a "clue" about Wade. If they had a "binding" verbal agreement, do you really hold that the Lakers "backed out"?

Then how are you including in the worst trades thread? Miami didn't trade Wade, and that was good, right?

So, you're saying the Laker's "allowed" the Miami team to "back out". If the Lakers had a binding agreement with Miami, Miami couldn't and wouldn't have been allowed to "back out".

yea they could have.... just like Boston did when Marcus Banks was included in the trade for Gary Payton and Rick Fox and then they allowed Boston to back out and instead of getting banks we got Jumaine Jones (i think that's how you spell it)... Until a contract is signed, you can backout of your word. At least in the NBA you can and we've seen it a few times

It was good for Miami.. not the lakers...

The subject was brought up because someone said that the worst trade ever was the Lakers trading Oneal to Miami (bad for the lakers of course).. which i said it was a bad trade, but not the worst. I also argued that Orlando trading Oneal to the Lakers was worst and that Lakers trading Oneal to Miami was bad because they should and could have gotten Wade had they pressed but they didn't!

Although Dwayne was incredible the heat needed shaq's presence to open the floor for the other players to be a factor against Dallas's stingy defense. He got doubled and tripled almost every time, you can't do that and keep Wade contained. Not to mention his performances in the rest of the regular season and the playoffs were almost as large as the big fellow himself.

Yep, I agree, when the Penny Hardaway and Shaq connection was torn apart, they have since suffered many years of ill-fate. That was league-dominating Shaq in his prime, he is no longer at that state, so I agree with Kobe81.
