There are two types of fans here, some in favor of D'antoni and some who arent and who are pissed that PJ wasnt hired.

On the outside, this might seem to be illogical, passing on a "legendary coach", I mean, your ultimately measured by the hardware on your fingers, coaches and players alike, right?

However, when you fail to advance a team with an all-star roster, when you fail to motivate, what good are those accolades? Its not about what he's done but, what he can do NOW and the fact remains that Phil failed in his last season and he failed miserably. I personally wanted him gone because it was clear he gave up. I respect Phil of course and what hes accomplished as a coach but, Im not sure he can motivate this team any further.

Enter Mike D'antoni:

While we can list the negatives toward his style in relation to the Lakers roster; Kobe and Nash being able to carry said style out down the stretch because of their age etc..what we DO know is that Both, Nash and Kobe are ecstatic over the decision and hopefully, that translates to better production. D'antoni is one of Kobe's child hood heroes as well.

I am so confused, because we don't get LA news here unless there is an earthquake, riot, an actors awards ceremony, or whatever. Therefore, I go seeking sports news in LA occasionally, including you guys in here.

IMO.. I wouldn't have hired PJ ... if the Princeton offense wasn't working, why would the triangle be any easier for the Lakers that you have? Plus. why would you all want to go through hiring another new coach again in 2 years?

WB, I notice that you hold back on comments. Waiting for the final shoe to drop???

Why watch the news when you have the internet?

The triangle O is what the Lakers are already accustomed to. The Lakers are more than confused out there with the change, although there are similarities between the 2 Offenses, its clear. Yes, any new system will take time but, this team is supposedly built to contend NOW and Mike Brown was playing around with things he hadnt a clue about. 4 out of 5 starters played the triangle under Phil and 3 of them have won championships with that triangle offense. Re-hiring Phil wouldnt technically be a new coach or atleast the transition would be easier having the top dogs familiar with him and the system.

BUT, where I think many Laker fans have a disconnect is that its not soley on the coach, it does *start there.

They cant execute if they're confused, they can't put forth the effort if they dont have your respect.
Which brings me to what bothers me about Phil, which is that he GAVE UP on the Lakers his final year... and the fans dont seem to remember that. Thats why the Triangle wasnt effective as it was. They and Phil gave up. Thats why I question whether or not Phil would be able to motivate them any further. The offense will work.

Im not certain of the talk of his diva demands, that may be something the team put out there to silence the masses but, if it is indeed true, I wouldnt want a coach out on a personal vendetta to stick it to anyone. Kurt Rambis sure thought it was ridiculous, he looked disgusted.

That Patriot/Bills game was wack...I dont even know where to begin.

The horrific non-existant D, tackling, shitty Db's...PLAYCALLING.

This aint gonna work down the stretch. The offense can carry you so far...

Until today, it seemed like you were "holding back" on your thoughts regarding the Lakers, and the Pats almost losing at home against the Bills.

Sports Center had said that only 2 of the Lakers knew the triangle offense. That is what I was going on. It didn't sound right, but I haven't seen them play yet this year except an occasional highlight. What will happen to D'antoni if the Lakers lose his first 4 out of 5 games?

I say "hell no." lol Please tell me that you are pulling my leg... I'd rather have his brother!

What's going on with BB? Why can't he crack the code, and get this defense to play better? Andrew Luck is coming to town next, and he's not going to hold back. I agree, Brady needs the defense to do their job better. The Pats are lucky to have the 6-3 record.

What's Water congrats on te win yesterday, but I'm glad that you are seeing what I have been saying every since 09 about the Pats defense. Like you said offense will only take you far. I think this team will only make it to the second round because they will have to travel on the road. Either to Balitmore, Pittsburg or Houston. All of those teams can run the ball and play defense. I could be wrong, but we shall see.

Andy Reid fired the offensive line coach and defensive coach. It's all on him for the o line being so bad. As we saw last year if Vick has the time he can find the open receivers. Also they don't run the ball enough like they always have done in the past. Nick Foles will be hit A LOT if that line plays like they have been playing.

Lol I really can't see sexy Rexy working with Bill. As for the defense, well B I hate to tell you this, but they suck lol. It's very hard for them to replace great defensive players like theu had in their Superbowl runs. I really hope they dont' get better like I told youy before because if they do then they will win another Superbowl. Now you see how the Jets defense is this year. When you don't get pressure on the qb then youe secondary is going to get killed. Teams are double teaming fat bou Wilfork and the other linemen are not stepping up. Pats will make the playoffs, but if the d doesn't play better they will be out in the 2nd round. Congrats on the Pats win yesterday and I know you were shaking with your broom when the Bills were driving to win the game lol. You know I have to mess with you.

I luv Big Daddy Wilfork! We need more like him though. They weren't just double teaming him ... I saw 3 on him.

Yeah, I was sweating out that final Bills drive. What was with the time management problem?

Are you hearing all the Jon Gruden rumors? I'm hoping that Cleveland fires Pat Shurmur and tries to go after Gruden. They have a new owner, Jimmy Haslem, and everybody is so glad the old one, Randy Lerner, is gone. Dallas, Philly and your Jets have their eye on him too.

Those flying monkeys use to scare me too! What a movie for it's day.
