So, I have heard rumors from anyone and everyone about Garnett, JO, Artest, Mo Peterson, Kidd, Bibby, Jason Terry, Marcus Camby, Frye, Francis, Derek Anderson, Sprewell, Villinueva, Rasheed Wallace, shall i go on?? So what i want to know. Seriously, as the Laker Franchise, what is seriously in our grasp this year and what is just all talk?

Your guess is as good as ours ben, unless you jim buss happens to be floating around, I mean what do you think is gonna happen? I think kidd is very realistic and I heard magic has been going out to watch his games maybe to keep an eye on things and see how hes doing, they say he was asked once again how he felt about being a laker in the not too distant future and he seemed upbeat about it so who knows, but what do you think ben I would like to hear your opinion on all this, what do you feel will happen?

hmmm.... well. either we can take the 2002 plan we did when we didnt do anything (remember that. lots of possibilities, little action) or our fine GM mitch who has accepted responsibility for the failure of well really not getting the lakers to be a contender, will actually make much needed and demanded changes. so in my opinion, i think we will make moves that sound good at first but we are not going to do ALL that the lakers could possibly do. so i can see this being a possible starting lineup scenario for the team.

pg- farmar/draft pick (acie law?)
sg- everyones hero. Mr. 81
sf- odom (he played there earlier remember)
pf- rashard lewis/kwayme
c -bynum/kwayme/late draft pick project AGAIN

so really that is just a possibility of what i could see happening because i dont see the kings helping us out, i dont see minnesota wanting to trade him over here and jermaine wouild rather play in new york. that lineup would not satisfy me as a fan. we need to do more damage on the boards, on defense, in transition, well... generially all around. so to all you dreamers who think we will have the starting lineup be mo peterson, kobe, artest, garnett, o'neal... hats off to you for being a dreamer. but seriously, i want it to happen but i dont see it.

i like it. but picking up a quality pg like maurice williams (or bibby, kidd, francis)- and keeping jordan as a backup, while acquiring rashard lewis would be beautiful.

I dont blame you for not having confidence in this front office its crazy whats going on, jim buss came out in the station I listen to and basically said he was not happy with the comments phil was saying about his players in the media, comparing their brains to slugs, and basically ripping them for not playing hard, and he did that quite alot this year, well I wasnt too surprised by that Cause I dont think I didnt think that was a good way to motivate this team either...Well Jeanie buss was on today and they asked her what she thought about her brothers comments, and she was dissapointed in her brother, she was sticking up for her man phil, and basically ripping her brother for ripping phil, its crazy, I side with jim buss on this, I mean shes gotta shut up shes gonna stir things up even worse than it already is, the whole thing is crazy, I wouldnt be shocked if phil is in her ear telling her certain things to say, if she keeps that up shes gonna ruin any chance we have of getting jerry west on board, he didnt like the idea that the bosses daughter was dating the coach, he felt that would ruin things business wise well I hope he doesnt hear about this....Anyway one of two things are gonna happen, either the lakers land a big supertar or your gonna see a smaller changes here and there, some small upgrades and tweaks which would probably be just as effective but would require a little more thinking cause now your talking about bringing in couple different guys not as hard to get but they have to be right guys, if either of those 2 things dont happen then things have really changed and this isnt the same lakers front office we use to know, then thats very sad.

We'd all like to think that Mitch will be forced to make significant changes, or upgrades, even if it means paying the luxury tax. But in reality it won't happen. KG doesn't really want to ask to leave Minnesota; and t-wolves salary cap works better if they wait for him to op-out of his contract and get back draft picks rather than lower tier players or expiring contracts. O'Neal wants to leave but the better deals are available with teams in the east than with the Lakers. Gasol might be a possibility (in a trade for Odom); since he has demanded a trade; but that is hardly the big upgrade the Lakers need. The Lakers face a daunting task to find the necessary parts they need to build around Kobe to have a serious title shot in the immediate future. They have gone through 3 years of promises to Kobe that they would improve the team to build a serious contender; and have failed totally. If they don't get something done this year, regardless of the problems in doing so, expect Kobe to op-out of his contract in 2 years. You could see Kobe in the big apple; and wouldn't that make the NBA happy.

hell no. why would kobe go to ny again? because it's the biggest marketing town? well, LA is the 2nd biggest- so that doesn't really matter. ny is the polar opposite of being a playoff contender. the lakers will make some changes, maybe big, maybe more low-key... but i highly doubt kobe will be going anywhere in two years, especially nyc.

I THINK THAT THE LAKERS NEED A VETEREN CENTER / POWER FOWARD THAT CAN FINISH IN THE MIDDLE THERES NO DEFENSIVE THREAT IN THE MIDDLE AT ALL EVERY ONE THIS YEAR PICKED US APART IN THE MIDDLE THIS YEAR OUR POINT GUARD POSITION IS SOFT SO JASON KIDD WOULD FIT PERFECT. THE LAKERS HAVENO STAR PLAYERS BESIDE KOBE & ODOM MOSTLY EVERYONE ELSE IS FIRST SECOND YEAR ROOKIES
SO WERES THE MONEY WHY CANT WE AFFORD SOME ALLSTAR HELP?

Well if the lakers cant land the big time players they have to just bring in some solid players that will come to play hard and will have a role on this team, like luke walton does, grant hill is a good player hes available, ruben patterson is is not a guy whos well liked but hes a hard worker and has game, guys like that do make a difference if you have enough of them on a team, smush is gone, now you need to find a way to bring in enough talent were you dont need sasha and cook playing so much, they just need to get creative, some of you sound like you actually want kobe to opt out, I doubt kobe is walking away from 30 million or whatever ridiculous sum his contract is made of, plus he loves LA he hates cold weather, and his wife likes it here too.

lolz...latrell sprewell wow, forgot about him, was a star though, but yeh i dont kno what gonna happen with the lakers this off season, but something has got to happen, i think it has to be big cos kobe wont accept it. i kno i wont be happy if something doesnt happen, im expecting another star player or sorts to come here. it may be possible to get rashard lewis now, with the sonics likely to get kevin durant, i reakon they wudnt mind trading lewis cos it opens up the position for durant! so lets see what happens.

Actually, Kwame and Bynum are a very good presence defensively. The problem wasn't the big guys' defense. If you watch clips, it was the opposing point guards picking our point guards around and making the necessary plays. Many times, our big men were forced to help because of our point guards' inability to stop the opposition. Therefore, the opposition big men would end up OPEN quite a bit.

Anyway, we need a point guard. If we can get either Williams, Kidd or Bibby. We should be fine. Like I've mentioned before, maybe getting Grant Hill is another possibility.

As for big men.. boy would I love for the lakers to land Gerard Wallace... what did he average like 20 rebounds per game? lol.. that guy is ridiculous! I think he had like 25 rebounds against the lakers.

I totally agree with you, I keep saying the lakers do not need another star player, bibby, garnett, jermain oneal would all be nice but other teams are looking for them too, the lakers would have to trade all of their good pieces just to get one guy, I think your better off trying to lure grant hill as you mentioned, trying to get a solid pointguard on this team is a must, doesnt have to be a allstar pointguard just a solid defender who can hit the outside shot, I agree kwame is a very good defensive presense I dont know why people are so down on him, the guy has some talent and size, the problem is he doesnt show up every game but this year he did suffer alot of injuries so we will have to see, bynum looked very good in the beginning and he ran out of gas toward the end, smush parker was terrible at defense allowing every guard to go by him, this year no parker hopefully they pick up a guy like marcus banks since the suns have no use for him but he is pretty good at defense he just needs to be more consistent with his shooting, the lakers just need to add about 3 solid bench players and that 3rd consistent scorer, at least that should be the frontoffice plan B if they cant land a big time player, but they better not stand still and not do anything.

Exactly. They might not want to get rid of Bynum 'cause he'll only get better and his value will increase by next year. Kwame has only one more year left in his contract meaning that after next season, if he underperforms, they can go after another star since his salary will be gone. Radmanovic will make a HUGE difference next year if he shows up healthy and ready to play. That guy can seriously shoot! No one will want his contract and that's fine 'cause at 6M per year, he'll prove to be worth it next season.

Lamar Odom NEEDS to find a way to be an agressive scorer. When he plays agressively, the guy is TOUGH to defend. But he tend to play too lay back and he needs to acquire that TOUGH mentality.

SO... if we don't get that star player, at least we can improve in the point guard position and strengthen our bench.

well for the lakers' sake, i DO hope radman returns healthy and ready to contribute. i do believe he'll be back with LA next year- nobody really wants him after last years joke-of-a-season. and he's really not that great of a great shooter. he's overrated in my mind. vlad's averaged only 41% fg and under 10ppg throughout his career... not too impressive. his 3pt % is decent, defense is maybe average = undeserving of a $30 million contract.

Well it cant get worse than last season, he will do well this season maybe the 2nd coming of robert horry, hopefully he will spread the defense which is why the lakers got him in the first place, just keep that guy from "going out to get coffee"

What do you think about zhack randholf and jarret jack coming here, its a rumour I read somewhere, because of greg oden they may want to trade randholf, then again it would make sense for them to just keep him, but if you can get these guys for a good price I say go for it what do you think.
