This is similar to when Phil Jackson & the Bulls got Dennis Rodman. Now he has Ron Artest, another "bad boy" defensive superstar. Can Jackson & Kobe keep him in line? Or will Artest go berserk in LA like he did at the Detroit brawl?

There will be some incidence, but he's a consistent enough player where the Lakers should win the ship: No Contest.

Ron Artest's demeanor is WAAAAAAAAAY overrated. Most teammates will tell you there is not a better guy to have on your team. Note that there was not one day of controversy with Artest as a Rocket.

Artest is at a point in his career where he has proven himself to be a not just good player but a great one. In my opinion, one of the ten best in the league. For the same money that Trevor Ariza sniped at, the Lakers get a better player with a more advanced skill set and a toughness that the Lakers frankly still need.

I'm not a Laker fan, but I think they just pulled off THE move of the off-season. They surely just insured another shot at The Finals.

Good point. I too was on the fence for a while regarding Ronnie's conduct but as youve stated, he's matured and hopefully under the guidance of phil and the leadership of the mamba, we will have those demons contained. He seems to have only the goal in mind now and with that frame of mind coupled with his skills and experience, it may very well be back 2 back victories for the Lakers....Showtime.

Artest took less $ to try and win a ring...that says alot....a rarity these days with greedy athletes and their greedy agents....a definite upgrade...looking forward to the 2009-2010 season...go LAKERS!!!

This guys is a baller and it gives the Lakers the toughness that they didn't really have last year, and still won it all. I'm not a Lakers fan but I liked Ariza and I'm a fan of Artest. Actually wish the Bulls would have went after him. Lakers are going to be tough to beat next year with this move.
