""Wherever it is, local communities should have a say-so," Coleman told The Dispatch" - Yes Mayor Coleman like you gave those of us who work here in Columbus but don't reside her a "SAY SO" in your raise of our income taxes. Seems a little two faced to me.

Coleman isn't for it because there's no provision for gambling on board his downtown train system. I can't wait until this idiot is voted out!

I hope he intends to give Columbus' share of the money back to the state to be re-distributed to those that want it.

I am so glad that mayor Coleman is concerned with the city and its well being. Maybe he could find a few thousand jobs to replace the ones the casino would bring. Or take a pay cut to help the city take care of its budget problems. People are going to gamble wether its here or in the states around us. And as far as the crime rate and the city going down have you drove through the city close to downtown? I think that ship has already sailed.

Did the 'local community' have a 'say-so' when you decided to tear down the City Center to build a glorified homeless shelter?

Coleman is just parroting whatever Strickland and Brown say. He's a fool running a cow-town. Let me get this straight: He's mad because he cannot 'regulate traffic pattens'? This is the same dipstick who de-syncronized the traffic lights downtown so that people who stop their cars, get out, and do some shopping! Please. Keep Coleman away from traffic patterns!

Granted, most politicians are dumb and virtually unemployable in the 'real' world. But this guy Coleman is dumb on grand scale.

I am glad that others are seeing what a detriment Coleman is to this city. He is not a pro Columbus mayor -- he has done nothing to help the City of Columbus, especially downtown!

And his city will benefit from the revenues, jobs, and people will have another reason to go downtown. He apparently doesn't realize that. He can only see "I won't control something....oh my!". I guess we didn't need that 1/2% income tax increase as badly as they all said we did. Come on mayor, be consistent...either the money matters, or it doesn't.

Coleman has really ran this city into the ground. We need jobs. If this will create jobs just maybe the level of crime would go down. You want to put parks and condo's downtown but there's no jobs for residents to purchase these homes. We the people electd Coleman in and we can sure elect him out. You really need to listen to the residents of this city.

How slow that learn. Casinos are parasitic to any community. What value do they add? You will have better luck an create more jobs by manufacturing bubble gum machines. Don't fall for this tax scheme gimmick. Look around at the surrounding states that are laying off casino workers and where the casinos have filed for bankruptcies. Is there a correlation between casinos and foreclosures? When it come to fixing the state budget and finding sustainable job growth, casinos are not the answer. Tell the empire that he's naked. Don't fall for this chicanery. The only city that has grown from the burgeoning of casinos is Vegas, and look at Vegas now. Vegas is on its way to becoming a ghost town. As casino keep popping up in state after state. we can create more sustainable jobs by starting rehab centers for addictions

Why do liberals always call people that disagree with them names?
If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.
A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a person of color is conservative, they see themselves as independently successful.
Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

(Unless it’s a foreign religion, of course!)

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it,
or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs and is
embarrassed.
If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he's in labor and
then sues.

If a conservative reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good
laugh.
A liberal will delete it because he's "offended".

He needs to focus on his own position, but then that is whatt he just did. This was a political move on his part to help Strickland. Strickland kind of handcuffed his purist self on the slot machine issue. Gambling is gambling, no matter how you sugar coat it; bingo, keno, lottery, etc.. I bet he'll find a way to spend the tax revenew for his own personal projects.

Issue 3, advocated by out-of-state gambling interests, takes 20 acres of prime real estate in the city's most viable office & entertainment district and removes it from the mayor's and city council's zoning control - and Coleman waits 6 days before the election before announcing his opposition. This usurption of the city's elected leaders' authority over land use within its municipal boundaries has been known since August 18, when the Secretary of State approved the ballot language. Yet, Coleman is silent on this issue until less than a week before the election and after the polling indicates a >10% point win for Issue 3. Coleman is playing Columbus voters for fools and suckers in pretending to oppose this Issue while, in reality, tacitly supporting it. This sub rosa support for the casino's my the mayor is evident in that he could have come out long ago with open disapproval of the casinos and used his political machine, built up over the decade of having been mayor, as a lever to undermine support for this issue. Yet - nothing, until a lukewarm statement of opposition is issued by the mayor followed by the statement that he will not actively campaign against it in the run up to the election. Coleman recognizes the revenue stream this casino will bring about to city coffers, combined with the $110 milliion/year the 25% income tax increase city residents voted for back in August. His opposition statement is merely political cover to give comfort to the opponents that he is on their side - which, if had been, would have communicated this months ago.
