Can't someone at the Dispatch do the math. With all the effort they're making to slow the Columbus casino down, you would think they would point this out. By the time you factor in the CAT tax they're complaining about, the casinos will still pay less tax overall than Penn is paying in Pennsylvania. It would probably take one Dispatch staff person 2 hours to document this and clear up the issue. Casnino owners are trying to make statements and threaten to delay jobs so they can line their pockets. I say let them stop the jobs, or better yet just leave Ohio. Someone will pick up the opportunities and pay the CAT tax. You'll see.

Why can't the casinos pay at least as much as they do in other states? Why does Kasich haters always want to soak the taxpayers for more than other states do? Do the taxpayers have to be losers to satisfiy the dems & the unions? If you answer these questions honestly than you'll support SB-5.

The bad deal the tax payers are getting is the tax brakes the oil companies and General Electric Co.s are getting. These are some of the Bush and Chaney eras deals that have put this country in the mess it is in today. Maybe John Kashit would like to address these problems before going after the casinos as they are willing to pay taxes.

Can't we get the dumb things built and operating before we start complaining....If it brings jobs (construction and labor) right now, its a good thing not only to the people, but to the tax coffers. I'm sure the 'good' politicians can think of ways of getting more cash down the road from them. It's a jobs plan without jobs.

I am sure the basis for this additional tax is because K-suck doesn't have any of his cronies getting any kickbacks from the casinos. So, how do you think he has done so far with helping our economy in Ohio? Laughable.

Kasich opposes the Casino deal simply because it was made under Strickland's watch.

If a deal even worse for taxpayers had been made during Kasich's term as governor, he'd be saying ...
"Look folks, these are business people and we have to let them make a good profit because they'll create many good jobs for Ohioans. We need a positive business climate in Ohio and we need to move at the speed of business, so let's stop whining about casino pofits and get construction moving to get people back to work." Yada, yada, yada, trickle down, trickle down, BS, BS, etc.

Too bad he left this part out of his campaign...like so many other things. It doesn't take a genius to figure out he is burning bridges and sinking the ship. I guess he just can't help but open his big fat mouth all the time.

Good riddance to those palaces of sin and cheaters. This is great news. For once Kasich is doing something smart. Make em pay and stick to your guns. Just like Coleman is doing. It's good to see smart politics being played on both sides. Only the dumb gamblers foot the bill while 95% of the rest of us get a better tax break. Kudos Johnny!!!

A constitutional amendment to allow casinos was monumentally stupid.
Now we have to deal with all the fallout.
