The Nets are close to acquiring multiple first round picks that will be used in a potential trade for Carmelo Anthony, two people familiar with the situation told CBSSports.com .
New Jersey has agreed in principle to a three-team trade where the Nets receive a first round pick in 2012 from the Rockets that will be lottery protected according to the Houston Chronicle and an additional first round pick from the Lakers in 2011.
Houston would acquire Terrence Williams, while Joe Smith would be sent to the Lakers and Sasha Vujacic would go to the Nets.
poor sasha!!! im gonna miss him, i really liked him! hes a good player, its a real shame they wont allow him into the rotation! what is it with the lakers always getting rid of the guys who kobe is closest to?? LOL

Elaborate Brodie...Humor me with specifics, why is repeating as a CHAMPION, "overrated"?

I find that those who disagree with that, support a team void of this achievment.

It would be over-rated if every team or atleast more teams won like that more frequently but, they havent, in ANY SPORT.

I agree about one thing, I will miss him, hes a good guy, funny guy, but lets be honest here, the dude didn't fit in the rotation anymore, and he was not producing, I know it sucks hes gone but lets not lie about it lol. Every time someone leaves we give them some praise, like coby karl for whatever the reason everyone thought he was good, adam morrison, the only scrub that didn't get any real praise after he left was farmar who I think is better than any of those 3.

Bobcats owner Michael Jordan is pushing to acquire Carmelo Anthony from the Nuggets, according to a league source.
The Knicks and Nets have spent a lot of time on the phone with the Nuggets and popular belief is that Anthony wants to play in New York.
"That's where he wants to be, not Jersey. But Michael Jordan is pushing to get him, too, and save the Bobcats' season," said the league source.
The Nuggets have a three-year contract extension worth nearly $65 million sitting on the table awaiting Anthony's signature, and they have not given up hope that he will sign it.
I think the Nuggets are better off just let him, walk.

N.Y. has nothing worth getting for Carmelo, the only way is the N.Y. gets a third team involve that's looking to move a big player and his contract for some cap release, and it's willing to take whatever garbage N.Y. has.

If the Nuggets let him walk, they pretty much will be giving Carmelo the finger, right back at him.

Cause with the new NBA contract in place more likely he won't get a third of what he is getting now.

yeh i agree man, i think there are too many scorers in memphis already for mayo to truly have an impact! im pretty sure he could get 25 in new york easy!
then again, the knicks are ballin right now, no need to really change anything i guess, but in the long run, if they could get mayo while mostly maintaining their roster, i say why not get him?
Yeah, but if You are Memphis would You move Mayo first?

I think it would be wiser for them to move other players.

Who You rank as Memphis best player?

im still of the belief that we are the best team in the league and no team can beat us at full strength! but we need to stop this slump we are in right now, and i want to see us actually beat the good teams! and the teams over .500! we need to have wins going into the playoffs that we can look back on and feel the confidence to take care of those teams in a 7 game series.
In a seven game series all those confidence win You talk about go out the window, They mean nothing.

Remember the season Lakers beat Orlando in finals? Orlando beat the Lakers twice in the regular season, what good did it do for them?

I think there is a long season still ahead the Lakers will eventually will get their wins and catch up with the top teams, make the playoffs and kick everyones butts and with their 3rd straight title.
They just need to stay healthy everything else will work it self out.

It gives guys a lot chances to try a lot things out until the right combination of players is put together.

Chicago was a Fluke!, like Portland,Seattle and Warriors.

Not gonna happen again any time soon, they will have a shot once new NBA contract gets rid off teams like Lakers, Heat, Boston, Knicks if they get Carmelo.
The league will be more even out after that.

Well it was just a matter of time before they moved him, we all knew he was going to be move before feb.

In a way is sad cause Sasha has been with the Lakers too long and the Lakers are losing their free throw specialist..lol, but I'm glad they moved him cause what waste of money and spot in the squad he never reach his potential.
Joe Smith at least will give Pau, Odom and Bynum some rest now the Theo is done.

What really will make my day would be to hear Lakers are close to move walton....lol

Yeah I agree, he will be miss, but is Sasha on Damn fault he didn't get into the rotation, in 2008 he looked like he was finally blossoming into the players the Lakers hope he would become and then
he got his new contract and he pulled D. George/Luke Walton on us and vanish.

Now that the Lakers are going trade him, who wants to bet his hot girlfriend is cancelling the wedding......lol

I agree, but Farmar left, Sasha is being trade.

Morrison I felt bad cause we left his exp. contract go to waste, Turiaf was sad cause he was needed, but couldn't afford him for what he was worth and at the time Lakers rotation of bigs was too deep.
Ariza left too, but that was his agent mess up,everyone knew that.

Coby Karl was a good feel story and for what is worth there are way worse player in the league, that make more money then he did.

Here me out, the 72 lakers are one of the GOAT teams and they didn't repeat. Does that take away from there greatness because they never won back to back? The 85' bears are the greatess team in NFL history they didn't repeat, and there still the GOAT

From the 67-68' season up until today, the ONLY teams to repeat have been: Boston,Chicago,Houston,Detroit and the Lakers...

Now if winning repeat championships were as pedestrian as you and Brodie make out to be, we should have other teams on that list, especially the Spurs who had 4 ships during their championship tenure. Hence, I take the Lakers over the Spurs.

In the NFL, forget it, mans sport, even more difficult, in the NBA you have rare 3 peats, but in the NFL that would put you in GOD status.

Im hearing you out...

Who said it takes away from the greatness? If you read my initial post, I said I have the upmost respect for the Spurs HOWEVER, the Lakers proved their dominance greater, by winning consecutive titles. The Spurs being as great as they were, had no excuse to achieve this, did they?

The 85' bears were a great team for sure but the topic was “TEAM OF THE DECADE”…they failed to repeat as champions anyway….to present decade…MIA. Hence, my selection of the La lakers >>>>the Spurs for the topic.
