I dont think mj was all hype I think hes one of the greatest I ever saw, the reason he sticks out so much is obviously cause of his championships but also because there was no one else in the 90s that could do what he could do, it was the first time anyone seen his kind of moves, it was the easiest thing in the world to market jordan, now you have competition because there are truly great athletes, im not saying they are as good as jordan alot of them are still young and learning and should not be compared to someone who already has ended their career, but like I said there is no greatest if hes the greatest to you thats fine, and who cares what other nba players say, all players from different sports give someone else the title of the greatest they wont point at themselves they know how to play the media, and jordan had no competition for scoring titles but he won it thats great for him, but when kobe wins it everyone calls him a hog, and jordan won that title just about every year, my problem with you is that you put down kobe way too much and dont give him credit for shit, the reality is kobe isnt far from being every bit as good as jordan, if kobe played in the 90s in his prime years he would have stuck out along with jordan, his numbers would probably be up, and jordan would have had a true rival, and kobe has to be in the top 5 in laker history, you just dislike him so much you wont even give him that, thats where you truly lose all your credibility the fact that you just dont like him, your no better than those guys on espn.
