Yea ok you don't know who I am, so you don't know if I'm wrong 95% of the time. I'm just supporting my team and staying positive if that bothers you well then it bothers you "big" Tim

Go Heat? F the Heat! Bunch of thugs and gangstas!
I saw King James yesterday, and ask to borrow a dollar. He handed my 75 cents and said "Sorry, I just don't have a fourth quarter!"

I still like the Heat better than the Mavericks. They play with class and with their hearts =] You are a Mavericks fan and you are representing
your team in a negative way. There is no reason to be so nasty. God bless you =]

Soory, wrong Justin. There is a troll named Justin who has been making really nasty comments in the Lakers forum. Not you, so I humbly apologize.

They do not play with class, they are immature thugs. Did you see the video of LBJ and Wade faking they had the flu after Wednesday's shoot around!
I hope it ends tonight.

I think there was only one NBA series rigged that I've ever seen. I've never seen a more lopsided series that Dallas v Miami. The officiating was nauseatingly bad and partisan. I think anybody who knows NBA hoops and isn't a homer knows this.

And why would I lie? I like D Wade. I like Shaq. I always loved Payton. And who doesn't love the Mourning success story of a ring AFTER a kidney transplant. FYI, I *have* a kidney transplant--that win was very meaningful for me! Plus, I've never lived in either of those places.

But the series was rigged because of a) how much David Stern hated Mark Cuban, and b) marketability of D Wade. Look, you have motive, weapon, etc. And guess what? It is trivial to control the outcome of a game through the officiating crew.

As for "conspiracies," here is my thinking on them. If more than a handful of people need to know, you can't keep it a secret. Faked moon mission? Impossible! JFK assassination? Very unlikely! But how many people would have to know that you jiggered the officiating assignments for the Finals. 1? 2? Consequently, could definitely have been rigged. Don't need cheating refs, just rigged officiating assignments to favor Wade's reckless style. And what do we see in the series? Wade throws himself on the ground, gets calls. Throws himself into other players, gets calls. Just tosses himself into the lane, and he gets calls. Just stock the crew with refs who always call ticky tack fouls on slashers, and Miami wins. QED. I could rig a series like that today. I could do the opposite for a tough defensive team by using officiating crews that allow tough defense with lots of pushing and grabbing. Easy.

I did watch the 2006 series - and it looked like something was wrong. And it was weird because i remember the commentators not even talking about the free throw difference.

Wade did drive to the basket alot - but alot of those free throws were given on touch fouls out by the three point line.

It jacked up the mavericks momentum and didn't let them get into a rhythm. I wouldn't have a problem if all those free throws were driving to the lane, but they weren't (from what i remember).

I forgot where i read it - but didn't cuban make some really obnoxious comments about the refs around the time the series turned around? who knows - don't usually believe in conspiracies, but things just didn't seem right

Out of the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB....which has the worst reputation by far, in regards to officiating?

In my opinion, Tim D told the truth. He was a cheat that fessed up after being caught and singled out. The NBA's reputation remains tarnished to this day because of it, though after 2011 it has slightly recovered.

It is very difficult to read this article.... and after actually watching the series and youtube clips without coming to the conclusion that either the refs seriously screwed up or the NBA had encouraged them to show D wade and the heat favor during film sessions...however subtle it may have been...as Tim D stated.

It is disgraceful, but it is a business trying to retain fans and expand. You do that through 'star power' and celebrities. A 7 foot german as slow as a snail vs the acrobatic American with no controversial owner. I'm not saying that it is okay because it is all about marketing (when the NBA was a low point) but I understand the motivations behind it.

So yes...it was "rigged," but thats because fans are not interested in the purity of the game unless there is a dramatic/entertaining story behind it as there was in 2011.
