I just got home to turn the race on and am AMAZED at the tiny crowd at the race that used to be you only got tickets when people DIED and passed them on in their wills... Unbelievable... NASCAR committing suicide each week.
I have no clue what happened to Tony but am glad to see him back out on the track...
hopefully Ryan can get a decent finish this week.
I think Karma
got Tony this week for throwing his helmet and getting away with it.
Bristol did not forget.....

Debi, You are probably correct in that Denny's and Joey's issues go back before yesterday. I don't think Joey really lived up to expectations, even his own, at JGR. But, and you and I may have to agree to disagree here, I don't think Zippy was ever as dedicated to Joey's success as he has always been to Tony's. Maybe it was because they just didn't click, or that Joey is just not as talented and driven as Tony is - but I hope he has a brighter future now.

In postrace interviews Denny was asked what Joey said when he stuck his head in the car window and Denny replied to the effect 'he's coming after me'. When Joey was asked what he had said,(not knowing about Denny's interview) he answered 'that's for me and Denny to know'. If Joey wants to feud with Denny - my money's on Denny.

well, let me tell you this much... it used to be in Daytona that it was $500 a night and you had to stay at least 3 nights.. but now that ticket sales are DOWN... those prices went DOWN.. so,, it will happen in Bristol too... My husband and I stayed all the way up in Jacksonville to avoid the Daytona extortion by hotels, which especially in little old Bristol, where hotels are few and far between,,, there is always Camping, Kenny Wallace LIAR NASCAR butt kisser.. But it is the SAME no matter what the special occasion.. it so happens that bristol only sees Two special occasions and those are the NASCAR races... any time there is a convention or a special time of season even, prices go higher... but... it is bogus what Bruton Smith did to the people of Tennessee.. it was THEIR tax dollars that paid to repave that track.. and WHOSE pocket do ticket prices go into??? Bruton Smith... he told the people of Tennessee that they would reap rewards if the track was changed and obviously that was a LIE.. those stands were so embarrassing empty... unbelievable.. and THAT is usually a GOOD race.. imagine how vacant Michigan, Indy, Dover, etc are going to be.. Race fans are DONE with the BS of NASCAR... DONE.. as for Me.. who used to go to Richmond twice a year, martinsville twice a year, Daytona once and dover and darlington once in a while... sometimes Michigan,, always dreaming of going to Bristol... I sit on my couch now because NASCAR is complete and utter BS.. like yesterday .. why no caution???? they wanted kasey to win... they woulda had the BEST restart ever if they would have called a caution.. but no... they are in the purse of Rick Hendrick, aka conman mobster...FRAUDULENT RACING!!!! and THAT is why Smoke focuses on Real racing on dirt now.... I bet next year he gives Kevin HIS ride and even gives BACK the half of the team to Haas... he is sooooo sick of BS racing IMO.

Well, I honestly feel for Joey... it was virtually criminal what was done to that kid... I hope now that he is out of JGR that Penske gives him more leeway to be aggressive... Denny nor Kyle are good teamates IMO.. they never were to Tony... they BOTH did him in at Daytona in different years rather than looking for a team win... denny wrecking Tony one year and kyle refusing to push Tony who had been leading the race and merely needed his teamate to give him the heave ho on the last restart... Gibbs has a very huge problem there and I bet Matt already knows Kyle and denny cannot BE teamates... But... Joey was coming back yesterday and if all he needed was to BE riled up... awesome.. I am GLAD because he was too boring of a driver previously IMO

as for Zippy... I honestly think he is not up to par with the pit strategy.. he and Smoke always REALLY truly RACED every single lap.. he is not one to pull one out of a hat, I think he does not think that is REAL racing... so,, I think that is why he was not as good with Joey.. because all of a sudden with the COT racing was ONLY on and off pit road. every single time Tony is interviewed about his team, he states that they are all RACERS... not programmed pit crew, not some math genius of which both are NOT racers And have ruined the sport of NASCAR

LOL, no, you have not lost your mind and you do not need help. You've just realized that when discussing Nascar, you and Debi are pretty knowledgeable, and passionate about your opinions. (that is true of most of us) It was bound to happen sooner or later. Now brace yourself, this could happen again. LOL

I also agrree with Debi. My husband and son have been going to the Nationwide race in June in Elkart Lake WI for the last 4 years. First year prices good (also town with out alot of motels, then each year goes up. This year we called the place they stayed in last year not even a name brand motel this year when they called it was a min. 3 day stay and over $249.00 a night and not much is going on Thurs. at the track.
They go to the Aug, Michigan race weekend for the last 10 years. First year they paid alot in Lansing and half the time the power was out. They found a clean not name brand motel 35 miles away in Ohio and pay $79.00 a night. Two years ago we called and the owner said he was sorry had to raise the prices $3.00 a night to $79.00.

I've never stayed at a hotel in the Bristol area - maybe somebody else can benefit my experience -

About 4 yrs ago, I found a bed & breakfast in Bristol VA. Very nice older couple with a lovely 4 bdrm Victorian style house. At $100 a night, the price was better than most hotels, and we weren't far from the track. They had several friends in the area who did the same thing. A good deal for everybody. Also, we've become email friends, so whenever I can go I don't have to worry about where I'll sleep.

Bristol is one of the Most lovely areas where a track happens to be..IMO... we drove by it on the way to Nashville last year and I thought.. "what a pity they put a race track in this lovely place"
the person who put the track in bought a dairy farm... there is not alot around there because it is a sleepy little town that is strategically placed where interstates could not run through if they wanted them to, they instead go to the east down 81..
Now, Martinsville is the SAME deal.. there is ONE hotel in Martinsville and they would charge a TON but you could not even get ON their list because the same people always got to stay there. we would camp down the road where there was a bathroom and shower.. but most people had to primitive camp in Martinsville. The Old tracks were put in for the ability To race,, not necessarily to draw NASCAR sized crowds...One time we splurged and stayed in a hotel in Danville and a couple of media people and some pit crews stayed at that hotel.. but it was not convenient to the track at all, like when you hear a driver call in and say he hopes he can make it to the track cuz he is stuck in traffic. Those media people might want to PURCHASE their OWN motorhome.... just an idea if they are going to gripe that small town hotels raise prices when many times rude and messy race fans stay ion their premises.. one time we stayed in a hotel that had a bar under our room and was open to the parking lot right off the room and I wishwe had statyed in a Campsite cuz we slept No Better!!!
BUT,, when we would sit next to the OLD NASCAR fans at daytona, the ones who remembered when the REAL racers would stay in the hotels that were mom and pop hotels before the brand names moved in,, they would tell some interesting tales of meeting the drivers back in the day because the DRIVERS had to stay in hotels...
most hotels, when you are making arrangements for vacations,,, one week is one rate,, the next week is another rate because of demand due to spring break or even now when other nations come to the USA..
