NASCAR fines Stewart

NASCAR fined Tony Stewart $25,000 and penalized him 25 points today, a result of him using inappropriate language in an interview after he won Sunday's Allstate 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

They've fined drivers that swear or guesture inappropriately for years IF it was caught on tape or broadcast...say...over the loud speakers to everybody at the race on Sunday.

Expected lenient punishment for a driver that's been more good racer and less jackwad for a few years now.

It was ridiculous when they penalized JR over the word 'sh*t' and it's ridiculous to do this to Tony now. I could see the 'F' word maybe being offensive, but 'bs' is a pretty mild expression.

Tony just needs to learn to control his mouth when he is on live TV coverage. He can speak however he wants in private, just show some maturity (if that's possible for him)when there is a microphone in front of his mug!!

I'm a little surprised, since per a recent Supreme Court ruling, ESPN is not going to be fined by the FCC. And, interview Stewart after an emotional win, and what do you expect to get?

By the way, did anything prompt it? If anyone missed the race, he said (more or less) "I really want to thank my fans, who have to put up with a lot of Cow-dung". Was he hearing some abuse in the stands?

David, getting Stewart to stop the B-Bombs on national TV in front of small kids in the middle of the day is not crap. The NFL would fine a player if he did it, as would the NBA or Major League Baseball.

I can guarentee you that Joe Gibbs does not appriciate that, nor the teammates that just got twenty five points taken from them. Above all the people who make it possible for Stewart to earn millions per year don't like it. The good people at Home Depot do not have the word BullS#^$6 hanging on a banner in front of their stores, and neither do any of their associates use that word when they are helping you pick your home paint color.

Just because Stewart wins races does not give him the right to act as he pleases in situations that deserve some amount of decorum.

I do understand that Stewart fans defend him.
I also understand that Stewart haters hate this.

I am a Stewart fan who wishes he would just grow up!

The man had just won the Brickyard 400 for Pete's sake. I am sure it was pure emotion. He probably didn't even realized he said it. I would rather hear Tony say BS than read an NBA player's lips as he calls an an opponent an MF.
