Debi, I'm betting Denny's going to love Darian's confidence and performance under pressure leading the 14 team to 5 wins and the Championship in the Chase. Somebody had to turn that team around after the Aug Michigan race when Tony did not expect or think they deserved to be in the Chase.
so, Darian was not the crew chief back when he was a waffler, non commital and Tony THEN told him that he was going to be replaced?? Seriously... I believe Matt Borland was crew cheifing from behind the pit box during the chase... I dislike Denny.. he expects to have the best car and not have to work for it.. There is a slim possiblity that they will have a good season next year being that now Darian will not have any ties to HMS and be working on a Toyota... I wish Darian luck.. he is a nice guy and I am glad Tony figured out how to work around him to get WINS in the chase... How Darian could not give Tony a decent car on short tracks is beyond me.. but Denny is going to be MAD if he cannot drive well at Richmond and Martinsville. No hard feelings Catrod.. I just cannot believe you lost all respect for Tony when Tony did not throw Darian under the bus at all and in fact treated him very very well. TONY drove from back to front how many times that last race?? TONY is the champ.. Have a WONDEEFUL Christmas.. we are leaving for MI to show the baby all her relatives :)

Why are you people so angry?
you would think we would all be so very happy for Tony, that after 3 years he is being able to put together a team of the guys he can TRUST.. It is interesting that some on here do not recall early in the season how we all wondered if Darian was purposefully destroying Tony's season... I remember... I am GLAD for Tony that he,, the RACER who drives the wheels off his cars and does not expect NASCAR to throw phantom debris cautions or do anything else to help him out, has gotten the guys he likes to work with on his team... I am excited now that Tony is back in championship form.. So many teams are making changes,,not just Tony. This is going to be a VERY interesting season coming up. Kurt is going to SEND a MESSAGE driving for Phoenix... I am EXCITED to watch him get back at NASCAR for throwing certain of their athletes under the bus, allowing LOSERS with CELL PHONES to attempt to destroy their careers..I am SO excited for Brad to have a teamate who is a trooper,, who has been a racer stuck in a cardboard box, tolerating and now will have excellent cars..
Happy HOLIDAYS to you!!

It's all about change. if your not willing to make changes you get left behind! so many hate changes that's why there are few over achievers in the world. Get out of your comfort zone and shoot for the stars it's the only way to win. Not that winning is always coming in first! But in business winning pays a lot better.
Most on here come from a generation of get a job stay with it for 35 years. Tony and Darians generation comes from a normal expectant change of jobs at least 7 times in their working career. Most expect 10 to 12 times.
well, I do not know how old you think we all are... but Tony has always wanted to be AJ Foyt, and that meant eventually becoming a team owner.. so.. I think he has been working on THIS ultimate JOB his entire life... We should all be So PROUD of him and happy for him too.

Debi, It's ok if we see this whole thing from different angles. There are a few of us who can share the back and forth w/o namecalling or disrespect of each other.

Tony's business decisions make no sense to me - I think he allowed his personal feelings for Zippy to overrule fair judgement regarding Darian. But JGR is a strong Christian organization so maybe things will turn out best for Darian after all. He's won races with every driver he's cc'd for - JJ, Casey Mears, and he made history at SHR. He did not ride Tony's coattails to the banquet and he deserves to work for an organization that respects his talent. I think 2012 will be a growing, interesting season for both the 14 and 11 teams.

Have a safe trip - northern Indiana is expecting decent weather throughout next week. I wish you and your family a blessed and wonderful Christmas!

The one thing about written correspondence is that it can be easy to misconstrue the "tone" of the writer.

I don't see anger here. I see a few Tony fans respectfully sharing differences of opinion - no namecalling, no put downs, we just see a situation from different perspectives.

Denny winning the 500??? well, that would mean that he would be pushed by Kyle or Joey cuz no other brands are going to push a Toyota to win. Brand loyalty is DEMANDED at this time... who knows? maybe Denny will be the lucky one to win the crap shoot known as the 500.. I personally think with all the changes they are putting in place, it is going to be AMAZING if a SURVIVOR doesn't pull off a win, like the year Harvick got it after ALLLLLL the good cars were wrecked previously. but... it is going to be REAL interesting... I can;t remember which driver said this past week he is SURE guys are going to blow their motors on the last lap... we shall see.. at least NASCAR is trying to break up the 2 car draft that would not have every happened in the old car. Dancing partners in a race,, all day long is pure and 100% BULL CRAP
If the 500 is such a terrible race . Why do U go every year????

I personally wonder what on EARTH Mike Ford did to deserve being let go??? HE was the most successful JGR crew cheif over the past 5 years.. I can't wait to hear if Denny enjoys Darians indecisiveness as little as Tony did in the beginning of this season when Tony lost 6 races he shoulda won.
Debi I learned a very valuable lesson going from working in production. Then getting to work in Human Resource Management & sitting in on all the meeting . Every one gets orders from someone all the way to the top boss. If they do not do what they R told they get their azzez handed to them.( I had to do a lot of apologizing to most of my supervisors . Because I thought they were compete azz holes for they way they were running the department) People may want to believe Darion was totally responsible for all the calls made on the pit box but I would not put all your money on it . Also people that listen to radio contact between CC & driver during a race . Remember driver & CC use more then one channel to communicate. Fans get to hear what they want U to hear . And also we had a boss(Plant manager ) that all the women were crazy about . Just like U TS lonely hearts club think of Tony . He was all nice & friendly when he came into the Dept . But when he was back in the office area he called these women fking bitches ,c**ts & every vile thing U can think of . Pretty much like Tony did on TSL & the RS article. All I can say it is really true DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.

my husband likes to go to that race and before the COT it was AMAZING...but as I have said numerous times.. this is going to be my LAST one... cuz I would rather go to Richmond for both races and Martinsville for both races and to Darlington all for the same price as one speed week.

we can no longer put our trust in a weatherman.. they said it was going to be dry all the way across for us but it rained from the minute we left our house in VA all the way across to Streetsboro, Ohio where we stopped for the night.. then on the way in the next day they opologized for not having a white Christmas but we have SNOW!!! I personally am glad even though I need to borrow a coat because I beleieved the weatherman...
Thanks for the good wishes Catrod.. we both love racing and it is good to have decent discussions and it is also good for both sides to be represented on the same forum.. but.. I hope this season with all the shake ups is going to get NASCAR back to where it had been prior to the COT and "perfection" racing.. I hope all these guys will race from the drop of the green all the way to the checkers each and every week. Kurt going to Phoenix is really going to shake things up. Hopefully they will be as successful their first year together as Tony was with the haas group their first year together.
Merry wonderful Happy Birthday Jesus, Christmas!!

Oh,, ok, well, I consider moving UP to be within the same job.. I guess I was thinking more of entire career changes,, which Tony did not do because he moved UP just like you did.. I think soon we are all going to miss the ability to climb the ladder in America.
but.. I joined some NASCAR group to get a free Tony 2012 calender and then since the group is a JOKE,, not worth paying $89 for,, if you cancel within the first 30 days,, you do not get charged for the membership... thing is,, they do not remind you of this so you gotta remember to cancel it all by yourself... but.. I am excited to get a beautiful Tony calender that I do not have to cut all the other drivers and their pets pages out so Tony can be each month..
Merry Christmas blessing everyone.. stay safe and enjoy family time, the BEST gift of them all :)

I LOVE stories of people moving up the ladder to come to realize that the people above them also work HARD and do indeed have ot answer to those higher up than them.. That is TRUE and those who always think those in meetings do not work, have no clue.
but,, as for Tony giving us premium entertainment on TSL... I think he gave us what we paid for... now on the other hand,, a guy like Carl Edwards, who truly IS a jekyl/hyde personality.. those are the guys to be weary of, not those who wear it on their sleeves and warn you beforehand like Tony. Tony is to be admired.. and let NASCAR know that drivers other than kurt and Kyle speak in non PC ways to their teams because THAT is what is sickening when they feign patience from the GQ boys.
