It's not good news that JJ got the pole - I'm not going to give him the win, but barring any problems, even with 5 other chasers in the top ten, I expect him to dominate.

Not good that Tony's starting 29th, but last year he started this race 26th and still won it ... although his current crew chief can't hold a candle to the one he let get away, imo

Hope it's a good race!

on the show on ESPN about the chase Jeff Gordon told the world that Tony Stewart is in the top 3 of best drivers ever with AJ Foyt and Addretti...
as for jimmie getting the pole.. since NASCAR issued new rules concerning the rear suspension of the car, maybe Jimmie will fall from that starting position the minute the green flag waves.
Will this be a fuel mileage race????

I know that Tony's one career disappointment is that he never won the Indy 500, but there's still hope he can add the Daytona 500 to his stats. Who can forget the tremendous tribute of respect all the other teams paid Dale Earnhardt when he finally got his Daytona 500 win?

I've also read that Bass Pro Shops is expected to replace Office Depot as a primary co-sponsor on the 14 next year. Guess that's why I don't recall that coming up in negotiations for the 39 team.

Yeah!!!!! Finally a LOGICAL sponsor picks SMOKE!!! YEAH
but as for qualifying,, I did not record that but I did record the practices and in watching the last practice. I heard that Jimmie was not fast in first practice and then saw that in race runs he was 34th in second practice,. then they put it in Q trim and he jumped up to 3rd so far in trying to grab the pole.. the pole only used to hand him the races because cautions were manipulated to call them all in and having that first pit stall give him the WIN because of lapped cars trapping the competition behind Jimmie... now that they do not manipulate cautions, unless like at Richmond Tony was going to win free and clear, so, the 1st pit stall might not even matter at Chicago.. in fact, fuel strategy has been the deciding factor here for the last few years.. that is why Jimmie has not even had a win here yet...
but Kenseth's car is having rocket science done on it and he has got a single lap in and is slow... Brad and Martin Truex got bad hand signals from an official in the garage area and ended up in a fender bender.. so, the drama is already intense this final practice for the first race of the chase

TS only has himself to blame for Q29th. He dumped Grubb for Addington. Still think it was a package deal to get Zippy. Addington is worthless. He was dumped by Kyle and Kurt. Noone else wanted him.

Brad got OFF pitroad before jimmie and those who pitted prior to the caution got SCREWED.. what an idiotic "sport"
but that is actually the "luck" that makes Jeffro Gordo now have a top 5 car
