It May Be Time to Panic for Michael Waltrip [1]

May 13, 2008 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Frontstretch

A year and a half ago, Michael Waltrip was successfully wooing employees, a very eager foreign auto manufacturer, and several high profile sponsors to sign onto his new racing team. via The Frontstretch

Have you been smelling smoke over there? I don't mean Tony, ha, I mean everything in North, Central, and Southwest Dade is on fire. Yesterday, they suspected arson. I was wondering if you had been affected in anyway. Hope not.

I heard that when Michael Waltrip heard that someone named DaytTripper66 thought he was slow and not so very good that he immediately had a panic attack. Did anyone else hear that story? I can't wait to hear a public statement about the very thought of Michaels great concern about the thoughts of DayTripper66. This whole thing could cause a public outcry such as has never been seen before, and indeed could never be seen again. Wow that tripper is such a heavyweight.

I believe the hardest job in the world has to be the person who writes the race summary for each of the MWR's drivers. For example, this week MW's article said that MW got his 3rd top 25 of the year. No mention that his top 25 are (23rd twice and 24 once). No mention that he has finished on the lead lap on 2 times this year (Daytona and Talladega). No mention that he is only beating 2 drivers (both rookies) of all the drivers that have ran all 11 races. And by the way, he is in danger of losing to the 2 rookies he's beating.

Even Mark Martin who missed 3 races is ahead of Mikey in driver points.

All is well here in SWF, Dill...as for Mikey, well just read the posted article from fronstretch.com
"The NAPA Toyota has been running so beneath expectations that for the past year or so, Waltrip has had to endure the indignity of NAPA commercials that poke mean-spirited fun at his performance or lack thereof, something that I doubt Jeff Gordon or even Dale Jarrett would tolerate no matter how poorly they were running. That makes Waltrip a tremendously good sport, but it also suggests that he owes NAPA big time for their loyalty."
LMAO!!
Wait-for-it! Banger-Buds!!!
That is good to hear. It has finally stopped smelling so awful here.

I wonder what kind of evening Dave will endure, as he is attending DJ's retirement banquet. I hope he has a little video camera attached to him.

It will take a mammoth effort for his and his team’s fortunes to improve, but at least there is little direction to move in but up."
Still laughing!!!
LMAO!!!!!!!
That is what I would say to myself after every disaster. "It cannot get any worse" and then some weird sh*t would happen. Who knows, maybe next time, the #55 will fly.

We seem to have a difference of opinion - I will admit to riding Mikey pretty hard for the whole rollover thing and to a lesser degree the Daytona scandal - however, I think NASCAR needs teams like MWR to maintain a competitive series. The same can be said for the Petty's, the Wood Brothers, and even DEI.

Here's the way I see it, NASCAR has imposed a top 35 rule that encourages teams to place well, or race hard tryin'. Since the (insert name here) Series has a finite number of available starting spots, and too many teams trying to get in, it is imperative that the teams that do make it onto the track have something to offer. The idea being that we don't want mediocre teams showing up and filling the field (we didn't like it LAST time, thus the top 35 rule) to get the minimum purse - Cuz' that WILL pay the bills AND let ya race the next week.

But nowadays, it takes some pretty high profile sponsors to make the race budget profitable - for ANYBODY. As much as some of us die hard old school NASCAR fans don't care how polished a driver is in front of a camera compared to how well he can muscle a stock car around, that IS what the sponsors are looking for. Mikey has the ability to mention each and every sponsor in a seemingly casual way - very good for a sponsor whether it's pre-race hype, post-race interviews, mid race trips out of the infield care center, or TV shows the day after the race. Mikey IS a NASCAR and TV personality. He has the respect of MOST drivers out there as someone that won't put ya in a bad spot (and yes, I know about the Casey Mears thing), uncharacteristic, but frustration, temper, and who knows what else - other than that whole owner driver thingy (just ask Ricky Rudd)- can obviously take it's toll and it got the better of Mikey obviously. My point is, Mikey is struggling, he took on more than he could chew, but his lack of success as an owner is not anything new - wait and see what Randy Moss accomplishes and see how that compares.

NASCAR needs qualified drivers with good sponsors to race against the high profile drivers as well as the drivers about to take their place - this is the niche that Mikey and a select few fit into.

Dill--he mentions "qualified-drivers".

He surely can not be talking about POS, with that statement.

Wins 4 races in 700 starts and heading for 800 and 4 wins.

Give me an effin' break!

Maybe I am mis-reading this last paragraph. Is he calling POS a "high-profile" driver, then?

Help an ol' man trying to figure this "smack-talk" which Bumper is laying on all of us Banger-Buds?

Wait-For-It----------POS to be a "qualified-driver" in JAPCAR! Laughing myself silly over that one, Dill! Does wall-banging count?

Maybe, the poster meant back in the pre-wallbanging days like Daytona. I did not see how good or bad Mikey was when he drove for DEI or anyone else, so qualified may refer to winning the big race. Don't laugh so hard that you start to choke, ok??

I agree when you say have a laugh at POS or anybody for that matter. G just gets riled up sometimes, but he always has something intelligent to say. There are a couple of new folks who haven't been very nice to anyone.

I hope when Dave gets back from his trip to Concord, since we know he is a Dr.(PhD) in Psychology, I think we need to get him to work with our Banger-Bud-----"The-G-Man ".

"G", since he has returned as some real aggression and rage-"issues", towards some of our members (Banger-Buds!).

Instead of lashing-out--calling people liars and shit like that----maybe Dr. Dave can work as does one of his associated---Dr. Phil-----and get "G-Man" to deal with his frustrations and aggressive behavior; so, he can vent his frustrations in a less aggressive manner.

I, being a trained, certified, teacher (retired from public school), with a Masters Degree, even though I have been through several psychology courses for my education-degree-----I do not feel qualified, in the presence of one with a PhD, like Dave.

I'll go on record----let's get a thread going, when Dave gets back-----and we will urge him to use his skills and training to help both Renee and "G-Man" better deal with all of our friends, the Banger-Buds!

I know a lot of this aggression stems from POS's lack of success in 2007-08. We all saw what happens when POS can not control himself on the track---JAPCAR set his ass out for the rest of the race. It is my "professional" opinion, POS's loss of self-control has filtered over to some of his so-called-fans, also. We are all seeing it manifest by a couple of "aggressive" Banger-Buds!

What do you think, Dill? Think Dave can help these couple of out-of-control Banger-Buds?

Yes and I'm a little concerned about Wallbanger, as he seems to get along so well with Tripper. They have a way of knowing every little thing about MWR that anyone could know. We should probably rename this site, The WallTripp Forum, that name seems to fit better. Have a good weekend.
