Kurt Busch Needs His Walking Papers

I didn't get to catch much of the race yesterday, but the bits and pieces I watched showed me three things.

Penske has not been competitive. We see Newman leaving who has been there his whole career. Kurt has done nothing since he joined. Indy car superstar Hornish has done zero. Barely competitive. I think Kurt is fed up with Penske's apparent lack of commitment to NASCAR. Their cars suck.

But you have to admit it was funny when he asked if he could park his car. I know I chuckled.

First, I'm not a Kurt Busch fan. Second, had I been in his place Sunday I would not have asked if I could park the car. I would have stuck the nose of that Dodge in the wall when that third tire popped and then let it drag the whole right side off. When the setup is so far off that a right front tire doesn't last half a fuel run before the inner bead melts and it pops means the driver shouldn't have to asked to come in. It means the crew chief brings the car in and does something about it.

Oh, I'm far from being either Busch brother fan.. but I have to admit I felt really sorry for him on Sunday. He just had a miserable day. I'm sure when he asked if he could just park it he was being more sarcastic than serious. I just laugh when they aired that on TV.

I laughed too, I thought it was funny and a good example of how the drivers get frustrated and say what is on their minds.

I am one of Kurts fans and I have to tell you it's been hard to watch at times. You're right though, he should have just put it in the wall after the third tire blew, or maybe just pulled it behind the wall without asking, maybe then somebody over there would start giving a damn about the cars he's been getting.

I really don't understand why Kurt's comments have drawn such criticism from the press. Being a Stewart fan, I've not cared much for Kurt in a long time. When I heard him say that he wanted to park the car I thought it was really funny. I don't believe for a minute anyone believed that he would really park the car. Everyone has days when they feel exactly like Kurt did. When that happens to me I've been known to tell my co-workers that I wished I hadn't even gotten up that day.

Not really a fan of Kurt Bush, but if he is going somewhere, DEI might have a spot for him. He has toned down since his arrest a few years ago. It is amazing how being arrested changes your attitude.
He won a cup right?
