Do not know what is on his mind but; I think something is going on if the press will just back off and let the guy get a deep breath, Maybe he could get a win

I agree 100%, interview him but not as often and back off on the pics a bit too, they are always in his face. The man needs some breathing room to get it together. Hopefully he'll be ok now that we all know Tony Jr is doing good and his relationship with Dale Jr is going really well too, they've separated themselves from being in hell together, unfortunately Dale can't get away from it.

You'd be surprised what you can do with a long range lens. I bet they are not in his face as much as you think.

And if he can't take the pressure maybe he needs to change his occupation. They're doing more talking about Tony these days and how he's doing and yet the media is still an excuse for Jr not doing well.

he needs to have someone teach him how to make this stuff just roll off of his back and ignore it.

I am not making excuses for him and the media is definitely not the reason for his problems. What I meant was more in the way of stop hounding him and pay more attention to the drivers doing well, Junior gets all the attention whether he finishes in the top 5 or the last 5 and it's wrong. If you asked him he'd tell you the same thing, that's what I meant. I love Tony and he's doing one hell of a job as a owner/driver and I had no doubt that he would, he deserves all the media attention he gets.

Well said. You can't take what the media has to say about you to heart, whether they're saying good or bad things. It's always a double sided coin with the fans and media. At times, they're going to love and hate you and you must be able to put it aside and concentrate on the task at hand regardless of what's being said. Dale has certainly used the media to further his fame and his pockets, so he also must be willing to accept and handle the criticisms when they come. If he can't handle the pressure, than he indeed might want to rethink a new career. We've seen others praised and condemned by the media and they've been able to handle it either way and go out and do their job on the track. Tony Stewart would be a good example of that. Remember when he wasn't the current media poster boy... He still had success and did what he was paid to do. Your love of what you doing should outweigh any criticisms. You can learn from those negative comments at times, as I believe Tony has, but at the end of the day, your out there to perform regardless. People have questioned whether Dale is as talented as he's been hyped to be for some time now and he's let those thing affect him more than he should. The problem has never really been Dale's driving talent in my mind, it's been his mental talent. If he ever realizes that and quits taking the media so seriously, he'll find himself much happier and a hell of a lot more competitive racecar driver. It's not just the media either. He seems to let bad performances and bad luck affect him to an unhealthy degree. You have to be able to put those things behind you and start anew every single time they happen. Look at Jimmie Johnson. A big part of his success is being able to put those bad weeks behind him and move on to the next race. Dale has to decide whether he's a guy who can take the negative with the positive. If the can't, than success will probably always elude him in Cup.

Also, this is over a month old, but I did read something from Eury Jr about the same thing. He lost confidence because the fans were questioning him, he being Eury. WHAT???

The both of them need help learning how to ignore what fans, who are not the experts, are saying.

The media is not an excuse. You will never see Tony get the attention from the media like Jr.does. If Jr.'s doing well, they are in his face. If he is doing bad, they are in his face. I don't see them talking about Elliott Sadler, David Gilliland, and others that are performing poorly all the time. Just Jr. Leave him alone and give hims some space.

I totally agree.

Those that state, well you the media comes with being in NASCAR, and you have to learn to live with it, or don't take it to heart. The articles written about Jr and things said, are NOT said about any other drivers, as you point out. The attention paid to Jr is overwhelming at times, and I for one, don't know how he copes.
