This is utter insanity. I want him busy, too. BUSY REHABILITATING! He needs to work on himself, on why he does what he does, re-educate himself to do something different (maybe become a mechanic on racecars). But, God help us all, get him out of a car before someone dies!!! Everyones is so interested, then help him by getting him the BEST help EVER!!!!! I am so disappointed in WHOEVER agreed to let him drive there. And who ever that was WASN'T doing him a favor. WOW!

I agree whoever hired him to drive need the old head checked out.. What are they thinking???? I think Shane needs to prove he can stay clean for a few years before
getting on any track......
I hate the way he acted with DJ I think he was buzzed when that took place giving him the finger and calling him an old man.....Hope you clean it up Shane......

Shane is young and young people make bad choices that have devastating consequences! One of the consequences is that he's let what was a promising NASCAR career go down the toilet! Shane is a really nice person, I met him while working at the gym when I was living in NC. Driving is his life and he knows he messed up. He deserves the opportunity to drive again and get his life together, whether it be for NASCAR or not! We can't punish people forever for mistakes they made as young adults. Imagine the burdens we would all have to carry if we were forced to remember all the things we did in our teens and early 20's that put other's lives in danger as well as our own! Give the kid a break and let him prove his ability to stay clean and do what he loves to do!

the cars are not fast enough to acheve grandstand status. we need a dangerous sport to represent this country. apparently nobody has gotten any ideas from the tv or movies. faster cars and more cars allowed per race. there we will find the drivers. for example; dale e sr. at talladega with his 3 lap 16th to win, victory. can you see the wind or is that gas passing from the hole your head is stuffed up. opinions are like asholes, everyone has one and they always stink. why should this one be any different. rid us of the scrawnie wuss drivers there are. stuck up punks really.5530 there eat it I give no shits twice.

who ever died in a race car because of drugs? who said what people think about any subject is correct beyond facts. if anything you do slows or impairs you, and you can still do the equal or better of any other person, or if not (your own loss, which will weed you out anyway) then thee shall not judge. lest they stand on the pedestal.unlikely to be reached by humans in their current mind based state.

dj is old unless you are older. if it was all reversed hmiel would be a punk and #1 (earnhardt style, also live tv:at pocono given to mayfield). but dj would still be racing because he pulls more fans (more hair totickle the ass of the endorsment famed nascar). do some resaerch on a new series. like wrestling, it is just as fake politically. A rolling high school. drivers should end all there on track problems with a boxing match and forget it. but then what would writers write about and commentaries would run out of comments. I did not read the terms of service either.

Say what you want about DJ but he has never been booted for drugs. Shane cannot even stay clean after being kicked out of racing and given another chance.

I spoke with a good source. Shane has a lifetime ban from NASCAR and is no longer driving for anyone. He is working construction. So sad. He had such potential. I hope he gets the help he needs. Addiction is a difficult demon to overcome.

I can only imagine how a race car driver would feel knowing that dope-smoking, cocaine snorting punk Shane Hmiel was going to be on the track with them.
How many of you could keep your job if you tested positive for pot and coke at work? Don't forget, he didn't test positive just on one occasion, but at least twice...once in 2003 and again in in 2005. He admitted that in his court papers.

I agree with Anne! Shane made mistakes as do all of us. It just so happened that his were out there for the whole world to see. People can change, they do change and you cant always hold a judgement on someone for their mistakes. Who are we to judge anyone! I knew Shane personally and I think that it great to see him turn his life around and enoying something he loves. I wish nothing but the best for him. Keep your head Shane! No matter what people say always remember that no one will ever believe you can move a mountain unless YOU really want that mountain to move! You have moved that mountain! XOXO

Shane is doing very good now and is winning some races in the USAC Midgets and is learning the open wheel car very well. Shane is one of the best talents in auto racing and i am sure that he will make it back to nascar.
