Jimmie Johnson vs. Cale Yarbrough: Cup victories for Cale Yarborough, who won 28 of his races from 1976 to 1978 when he became the first driver to win three consecutive championships. Jimmie Johnson tied his mark this year. From 1957 to 1988, Yarborough started 560 races, finishing in the top five 255 times and in the top 10 319 times. He won 69 poles.

Good god do we have to start the four peat bullshit? In my opinion he has only won one championship. The other two was gained by cheating and ejecting of his crew chief and those are dirty wins in my opinion. He earned one through honesty.

ummm excuse me miss tony stewart fan, which driver was it that threw a temper tantrum when he came in second [behind jimmie] and blamed his pit crew and then went off to pout?
what he was saying is the pit crew lost him the race by not getting him out first. so which driver cant win a race unless its his pit crew getting him out there? here's a quarter use it to buy a clue
there is one pit stall from which the drivers can peel out at full speed, not needing to mess with anyone in front of him, not even having to turn his steering wheel and that is what Chad and Jimmie go for when they get off the truck..without the first pit stall, Jimmie is mediocre..did you hear Jimmie complaining how hard the guys were racing him during the last race? that is the hard racing that anyone not out front needs to do all race long.. the first pit stall is Chads secret.. he knows how important track position is.
And Tony had a lot of wins that he lost for various reasons this season but the first pit stall gives such an advantage to any of the top 12 drivers, that the race is virtually over after qualifying if one of them gets that pit stall.. all I am saying is that NASCAR needs to not let any chasers have the first 5 pit stalls.. that will equalize that advantage.. it is no big deal and no single guy would lead the pack all race long if they took the first pit stall from chasers and in fact, we might see some wins from outside the top 12 teams.. it is entirely a different deal when a guy has a car pitting in front of him that might hangout of his stall like Jimmie did to Carl all race long as Phoenix,,, very unchampionlike I might say...earlier in the season Chad knew it didn't matter so they didn't get the first pit stall... they didn't win either..look at all the races that the 48 won... first pit stall..that is too much of an advantage for a chase car.

Glad for Jimmie but really this writer just forgot about the real champion unless you think a one liner is enough for someone like Jeff Gordon. I think he will be a good contender for his 5th. He looked a lot better towards the end of the season and I feel he is ready now. Ella is growing and he has more time to spend on his racing, plus she sure does seem to be interested in racing!! I think some will call him the sleeper, he will be quiet and then, bam, he will be there till the end. I really think he is tired of Jimmie winning everything, even though he is the owner, he misses those wins. Hope he does some personel changes in the off season, he needs to. Plus with the new good looking car and design, he is ready to go!

Thank you; you don't see Jimmie Johnson behaving that way, do you?
I actually hate to tell you this but as I have watched Jimbob over the seasons, I have come to notice that the boy is simple minded... he actually believes that his car is superior and that he is superior.. but I want to ask him, Jimbob, why is it that you and Chad need to get the first pit stall if you are so superior?.. last year I thought Jimbob was hypnotised...to strictly follow orders..and that is what he does..put him midpack and he is no better than anyone else... it is quite the pity that pit road is the deciding factor of all races now... every single one.. I challenge you as a Jimbob fan to tell him to race from the 2nd pit stall.. or worse... will the guy in the first pit stall hang his rear out all race long like he did to Carl?? It is incredible and amazing to me that you people herald Jimbob as a champion when their bag of dirty tricks gets them the first pit stall so they can win, even if they need to hang their rear out to foil a better racer like Carl...I hope in this off season that Jack Rousch, Joe Gibbs, all of the owners non HMS watch the tapes and see how many times the idiot Jerry Punch says "That 48 team is the greatest team ever,,, they capture the pole. lead the most laps and win the race"... duh....it is not racing at all... it is follow the leader and btw... it is now boring because of that... PLEASE JACK!!! TAKE THE POLE AWAY... I know that true racers want to practice racing but the secret to win is to practice qualifying only,, come to the track with the lighter oil, the qualifying shocks and springs and the stuff that no one else bothers with but the 48 team because they know if they don't qualify at the pole, they will not win... like the other 40 guys (not including Kyle and Carl in this because they can handle the COT better and can actually race with it)...JACK!!!! seriously... I know Carl likes to practice racing and so does your team, but if he wants to win the championship, you need to just say no to him about practicing for the race...
oh, I get it.. because you people have jobs, you do not see qualifying so you do not know that Jimbob comes to the track specifically to get the pole... he never practices racing that first day because his team knows that it is pointless to practice raing... with the COT the only racing is to maintain your lead off pit road after cautions...

well now, I have bad news for you.. last year HMS backed Jr until they saw that was not going to give them his first championship.. so they switched to backing Jimmie to get him his historical 3rd in a row.. now they have Jr to still worry about because fans are starting to say "Hey,, why was Jr better at DEI? what gives??" and now they have the nostalgic Mark Martin going for his first championship... so will the "racing" be late phantom debris cautions which was Jeff's specialtiy? or will it be first pit stall which is Jimbobs specialty??? OMG... so many racers.. so few championships... whatever is Rick going to do? is he going to have a mutiny? all these guys wanting their first, 4th or 5th????

To paraphrase an old politcal campaign..

"It's the economy."

I'd like to see James and Chad go for a fourth championship. Regardless of what you may feel, that team comes alive during the chase when it counts the most. The first 26 weeks are practice for the last.

well,,,,, it is funny how some people like the one team that takes the racing out of the sport.. but I won't let it bother me.. I just hope NASCAR eventually figures out that they have to take the first pit stall from the chasers if they want people to care about the sport of racing anymore..I totally understand that when they changed the car to one that is not racey, that one team would still lead the rest, and I totally understand that Chad has figured out that track position is all that matters with the COT and that this past season they figured out that fans wanted to see Jr win so they had Chad wait until the chase to take the pole each week ... they even finished the season not qualifying well, which showed that they are no better than any other if not for that pit stall... but still some of you like the boy band racer... that's OK...this is America,, you are free to like Burger King over McDonalds and Lowes over Home Depot... so why not like a nonracer over a race car driver???
at any rate,,, if NASCAR figures out that most weeks the racing is done on qualifying day and one of the reasons the stands are less full is because changing the race car to a car that can't race and so the first pit stall determines the race unless a go or go homer gets the pole,,, they will figure out that to the other drivers, the ones who want to race and not follow each and every lap, and to the fans who bother to go to the track in hopes that their driver will not be caught up in the big one, that some drivers hide out from instead of racing and then call themselves champions because they led the last lap of the races that they rolled off pit road first...NASCAR can let them race once again, and put the racing back on the track rather than in the pits and it is easy to fix this... extremely easy.. put 2 and 2 together and say "If the 48 team gets the pole they lead the most laps and win the race and they come to the track prepared to get that pole because they know this"... then all they gotta do is take the first 3-5 pit stalls away from the chasers....that is all they gotta do if they want the faithful to flock to the track to watch a race that is not predetermined on qualfying day... it is easy to fix it..they took the power from the toyotas.. they can take the first pit stall from any chasers..
and then all you 48 fans can say "What happened to our team? they suck now"

Kattie, if Jimbob were as real racer, then I might respect him more... NASCAR isn't real racing... Mike Helton up in the tower can call cautions whenever he feels like it.. NASCAR is one type of racing.. my driver, Tony is a true champion of many types of racing.. I am proud of him.. he is the reason I am a NASCAR fan..he is the one who made it exciting to watch..
over the years going to different tracks, it started out that the only races the 48 team could completely take the excitement out of were the mile and a halfs... then they figured out how to team up with their other chicken teamates at win at restrictor plate races and then they figured out that at short tracks, the inside lapped down traffic holds up anyone from catching the leader, so if you get the firstpit stall, you will win that race... so Jimmie and Chad along with the other HMS drivers have little by little taken the desire from me and I am sure many other race fans of wasting time and money to go to what NASCAR calls a race but most call follow the leader.. Tony has more championships than Jimmie does, in types of racing that mean a lot more to Tony than NASCAR races do...
Kattie, you go right ahead and believe Jimbob is the best driver because he has 3 sprint cup championships...there is no accounting for taste... you admit you do not even watch races and if you did go to races, I am pretty sure you would not be an HMS fan at all because of the way they "race" and get the lead to win...the reason the stands are full of people is because of the racing going on on the track and usually quite frankily, that does not have a thing to do with the 48 team....and unless NASCAR figures out that the racing needs to get back on the track instead of being solely out of the pits, they are going to have a whole lot more empty seats at the tracks... right now, watching the lead cars get away because of the design on the COT, which Chad himself even admits, one might as well go stand on an overpass to watch racing...thank God for the guys deep in the pack who are racing....but TV viewers are unaware of their skills because the cameras are all trained on the teams that are like well oiled machines, teams that could have a chimpanzee in the drivers seat... that is what I think of Jimbob, a chimp not a champ.
NASCAR LET THEM RACE!!!!! LET THEM FIX THAT DAMN CAR!!!

Deb, you are so screwed up. Do you know anything about racing except the first pit stall is good to have? And why are you talking so much about the Nascar 3-peat champ? I thought this was a Tony Stewart forum!
