Truck Series leader Johnny Benson leaving his team at end of the year

Johnny Benson, who is leading the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series by six points over Ron Hornaday with two races to go, is parting ways with Bill Davis Racing at the end of the year.

So he's not retiring just leaving Bill Davis racing? This puzzles me I don't watch the truck races a lot but didn't he have decent equipment all year?

I like Bill Davis Racing for two reasons Jacques Villenueve and Scott Speed. He took a chance on them. Jv didn't work out but Scott did decent in the truck series. He looks outside the norm which I like. Speaking of I'm pretty sure Scott Speed will be in the truck race this weekend.

I guess there just comes a time when you get worn out from the pressure and traveling every week and decide to take a look at what other things you can do to make a living without that much hassle. Johnny is probably pretty well set financially so it's probably that time in his life when he is going to do just what he wants to do and I think that's great.

I heard the exact same thing & more on "NASCAR Now" last night.

Here's the problem! I don't think even he is sure what he'll do next year!

I'm getting kind of worried about him. All this stuff just puts more stress on him, & it's stressing me out too!

I hope we can get an answer soon!

If he's retiring I think It's good he's doing it while still on top. He could run around for another 10 + years but what would be the point?

What's the point staying pass your prime. Richard stayed ten years too long, DW stay 7 or 8 too long, and many, many running around turning into has beens. Ned Jarrett did it right, won his second championship and retired when he was on top of the world.

While you are correct on that, this is all Cup related.

Dude, you have me as shocked as the boy in that picture!

"Whoyakidding" made a comment about the Cup Series drivers of the past & their prime, & I asked a question for him about the scenario when it came to the Truck Series. That is all!

My actual concern is about JB's stress level! Don't you think this puts more pressure on him, trying to win the title!? I do, & that worries me!

I may be a lost puppy, but I'm a concerned lost puppy, looking for the bone that will tell me about JB's future!...

The article does not say much as to why he is leaving. With alot of teams downsizing and laying people off I think you are going to see more of this. Just like Hendrick letting Jimmie Jihnson's spotter go, that is a pretty important guy to a driver and this guy is more than likely going to win the title with one of the most financially sound organizations. Nascar seems to be looking at some lean years ahead. If some are laying off what about the ones' that are already bare bones outfits? This may not even be the case with JB but if not why did he not just say why?

That's the one thing that tends to bug me the most about this. He never said why he was leaving in the first place. This article mentions that:

I have heard 3 different things (Health issues, BDR downsizing it's Truck program, & Benson retiring), but I'm sure none of them are right!

I'm real concerned at this point! Johnny isn't gonna concentrate about his future until after Homestead, & I can understand that... I just wish we had more answers than questions!

If you saw the Truck Series race on Friday, you saw a very bizarre race. I thought I could get a chance to relax when Hornaday wrecked, but that was until I saw something I thought I'd never thought I'd see.

That wreck between Johnny & TJ Bell told me something isn't right with JB's mind, & I bet it has something to do with why he is leaving BDR, to which he STILL has not revealed! Johnny is NOT the agressive type! Johnny said TJ came down on him when it looked clear that Johnny drove in too hard & got loose!

I think we NEED answers now! The last thing I need is Johnny Benson self-destructing!...

I have 2 friends that have stupid theories about me. One of them, Mardeth, thinks I have a crush on Peter Tomarken (My favorite Game Show Host). The other, "Greenlight," thinks I have a crush on Johnny Benson. I keep trying to deny them both because they're both married, but they don't buy that!

I've been a Benson fan since 2001, & I know a lot about him, so don't be surprised if I go overboard a bit when it comes to my drivers, especially JB. I care for them a lot!

Seeing as you're a Carl Edwards fan according to what I know, are you telling me you're not concerned about your driver winning the Cup or Nationwide titles? Sure it may be a slim chance, but it's not impossible!

Oh, one more thing!... Who's TJ Majors? I've never heard of him.

Oh. TJ Majors is Dale Jr's spotter. I think it might be cool if Carl could win both titles, but I don't see it happening.

What are your thoughts on the Truck duel? I want Johnny to win (Deperately), but Hornaday has gained on him on every race but 1 (Martinsville), since NASCAR's controversial rule change on Toyota.

The rule change, Roush helping Hornaday, plus Benson's bombshell, & now the Phoenix race with what I saw puts even more pressure on JB... that makes me worry about him!

It's gonna be close. I want Ron to take the title of course, but If JB does, that would be fine too.
