Sounds like he busted himself too!

(From the article)
[During the interview, Hornaday retrieved a 2-ounce tube from his house that was half-filled with a cream. The prescription label bore the name “testosterone,” but was partially torn so that it did not show his name. The expiration date was listed as Sept. 29, 2007.

“I never knew that was a steroid,” he said, pointing to the cream.

Hornaday said he didn’t see or speak with a doctor before receiving the prescription, and initially insisted that he used it for only a week and stopped. Later, joined by his wife, Lindy, he changed the timeline and said he used it roughly every day for 13 months by rubbing a “pea-sized” dollop of it onto his thigh.]

If he didn't talk or see a doctor what'd he call it in?

I thought I heard once that Hornaday had a thyroid problem,(kind of bug eyed look to him) and I thought maybe steroids of some kind would be a treatment for that, but I don't see any mention of any "condition" he was using it for or did I miss something?

I guess one of the biggest issue is going to be Kevin Harvich. He has been the most vocal about drugs and NASCAR. He was down right PO'd when the whole Aaron Fike thing came to light.

I have thyroid problems. I have never been on steroids for it though.

During one of his hot moments speaking out about the Drug Testing he made the statement that he has his own testing
done of his crews. Wonder had his testing missed

They put me on steroid eye drops for a while not the same thing I'm sure of but I definitely went to the doctor to get them. They fixed my eye problem at the time as well.

I wonder what the difference in them is. Like I'm sure that if you takes shots they effect you more then a cream would. I don't think it was obtained by him illegally but can you take them and compete in Nascar even if it's a cream.

Heck I have more questions then answers here. I guess I'll read up on it later.

I think (not sure) he was saying he was going to start testing them. Or maybe, HGH use wasn't/is'nt being tested for.

It will be interesting to hear what KH has to say about it.

I think he mentioned in the article, that he doesn't think Ron used them illegally which I agree with him on that.

Okay I think we're missing something here. As testosterone, is a hormone in the male body. Maybe he is lacking? I have no clue but that was the package received correct?

I don't see an issue here other than the "MEDIA" Ron came forward cause this is not a problem no injections, no big deal. The "MEDIA" will try to hang him. This is a older man like me takin care of aching body issues not a 20 yr old tryin to be superman. Concentrate on the real issues, how much the COT sucks and bring back the REAL race cars.

You are correct on that one. I have a buddy named Maro who is a huge Ron Hornaday fan, & she flipped out when she saw this. When she first heard it, she got up set because it involved steroids, but as the story went on, she told me she was about to cry considering what was said.

With this being a serious medical condition, I think we should look at this a little more. After all, what if this is a situation that could force him out of racing, just like Bobby Hamilton Sr. with his cancer?...

Prescriptions for testosterone in many forms are written by docs all the time. It is not performance enhancing except for the fact that it should make you feel better if you need it (like pharmaceuticals should). I heard somewhere that Hornaday has a thyroid problem. Mabye thats why he takes it. People are sure quick to jump to conclusions.

Hey LGR, If Hornaday says he didn't know (I didn't know) it was a steroid I believe him. It's not like he was caught hiding under covers shooting up heroin in an amusement park parking lot, and when confronted almost ran over the security guard!!!

NASCAR isn't worried about it, we, as fans, shouldn't either!!! It's all the media trying to stir up controversy!!!
