Tony is still my favorite driver. He can race and win in about any type car he straps himself into. He is definately not the "choir boy" image, but I will still cheer for him and hope he wins the championship. I don't know what all went on, but I heard there is a no love lost between ESPN and Tony and there is an ongoing feud between both parties. I think ESPN will prod and poke just to stir him up..........KNOWING Tony WILL give them the action they want. This makes for a top story in their NASCAR coverage. Go git 'em Smoke!

My Dad raced with Foyt, Andretti, at a little dirt car track called Reading Fairgrounds, since torn down for a Mall. Be in racin for 47 years. From day 1, there has been GOOD guys and BADDDD guys. Tony just falls in the second reference. His talent is unquestioned. We need bad guys. Like the man says,"just don't [email protected]#$ down my back and tell me its raining." Be all you can be!

NASCAR needs to start laying heavy fines along with a large loss of points for this type of behavior.
Tony just proved, once again, how classless he can be when he opens his mouth.
If you hit them where it hurts then maybe it will finally get their attention.

This whole swearing thing is SO stupid. Give me a break. You can't police somebody's mouth. They are race car drivers under extreme pressure. For GOd's sake, just turn on the radio or TV in primetime and you get much worst.

Remember people, NASCAR is entertainment. E-N-T-E-R-T-A-I-N-M-E-N-T! It is only a show. Smoke is a real racer. He is not an actor. Tony Stewart is the best race car driver since A.J. Foyt, Jr.!

Please do not justify this by saying the driver is under "extreme pressure". The president of the us is under "EXTREME PRESSURE". Tony is under NO more pressure than the rest of the drivers on the circuit. DO the other drivers act like Tony?

Sure, our President is under extreme pressure. Is that why he uttered a profanity when he didn't realize the microphone was open? I can't say for sure if he said shit but, nevertheless, he did utter a profanity. The President should know that the mics are always open when he is around.

Does anyone know if Tony is on Probation or not??
If he is on probation should that not come into play here????
The drivers on probation should need to be very carful of all actions.

What did they do to Kyle Petty? ESPN needs to back of from these drivers until they can get their thoughts together. This is a dangerous sport and very stressfull. You don't see reporters interviewing other sports figures when they come off the playing field between innings or quarters. NASCAR should mandate a playing field for these drivers.

I gotta say - people are missing the point. These sports professionals are choosing to do what they do. They make TONS and TONS of money. Just like actors and actresses. And by doing that, it carries a bit of responsibility. They KNOW people are watching, kids and the like - and then the act classlessly. Cool grandma above hopefully is not watching with her grandkids - because I sure wouldn'tw ant my 5 year old hearing losers curse on the TV.

It needs to stop or the person needs to get out of the sport - or ESPN needs to stop interviewing people like this. But if ESPN did do that, Tony would be unhappy because he would lose publicity. And that's all it is - Tony does this not because he's a "bad boy" and all of the nonsense. He knows it will get him front page Sports section coverage. We're the dopes (the audience) who labels him a rebel and tough guy - and thinks he's *cool* for cursing. What is this, high school?

In reality, he's just classless, but not because of his upbringing - because he wants the controversy. And that's about as low as it gets.

Tony,There is a thing called freedom of speech. Stand up for those rights, Smoke!! Go out and win this race and prover too the babies at NASCAR to grow up!! I have watched many games on tele and you can read thier lips!! And they don't get any fines!! And even if you do get a fine. You'll have another win under your belt. I feel as though it's up to the television compny to add a 10 second delay for thing such as this. That is what the FCC is for!!
Keep faith Tony, your fans are behind you!!

Why do people always have to make such a big deal out of someones imperfections. I am sure all of us humans (under extreme stress)falter at times. Tony has always been an easy target. I for one will admit I could have said something even worse. Keep the cameras out of his face!!!!!!!!!!
