How is NASCAR a sport? Is driving around in a circle wasting gas really a sport?

What sport doesn't waste gas?
How do you think those players travel, beam me up Scotty?

I'd love to see you drive 200 mph around that track without crapping your pants.

Can't speak for all the drivers, but most of them are in really good shape. Look at Carl Edwards. You'd have to be in super shape to do a back flip after sitting in a car for hours. He is definitely an athlete.

Anybody that doesn't believe a Cup driver isn't an athlete should dress out in a good heavy layer of winter clothing along with a helmet of some kind and try sitting in a sauna at 130 degrees for about three and a half hours. Don't even worry with doing anything while you're sitting there. When you get out of the hospital, tell us all about it.

...in a pack of cars that are closer to you than in a WalMart parking lot...

I dare you to go up to someone on the interstate and "bump draft" them - heck, you'll only be doing what, 75mph??

To each his own, and some get it some dont. Simple.

Football
Baseball
Oh, dont forget the Olympics...

Where the outcome of a game relies on how a "judge/official" sees things - And depending on how many "ben franklins" which team hands them!

I get so sick and tired of crappy officiating that I can hardly watch the "real" sports...

At least in Stock Car Racing, you cant have an official "blow it" that causes the team to loose. You have to have talent, luck, good pit stops, weather - A myriad of components to win (or loose)

And I am one to claim the NASCAR rule book is written in "jello" but not very often can one lousy official cannot blow it all!

(with the exception of DAYTONA 500 last year - Mark Martin got screwed!)
