On two car owners, Stewart and Ganassi, and the economy

Question : Do you think Tony Stewart will struggle? He hasn't failed at anything he has ever attempted and I think with all the help he is getting that he will be just fine.

This is a pretty good take on what will happen in the coming years with the series and Tony.

I wonder what the threshold for success is for him. Is it just making every race next year. It's a good thing to define success so that he has something to strive for.

It's going to be very interesting watching Tony next yr.I really hope he does well, but we may see another side of Tony we have never seen before. If he doesn't do well there is no telling what kind of hell will break thru. I just hope he can take it all in stride and remember that this is a "new" team and patience is the game.

In an interview he said that he expects to win next year. He said he didn't know if it would be one or more, but that he expects to win. Personally, I don't think its out of the question.

I think he's capable of it, I'm just wondering if he's ok with not winning.

I think it will depend on how his car is running. If he's not even running with the leaders like so many of the small teams I think we'll see him explode at some point next year. But if he's running in the top 10 consistently I think he's more than willing to not win for a little while. I'm sure there will be some pointed comments if the team struggles, but that's what we've come to expect from him. He'll undoubtedly tell a few reporters that they're idiots because they ask the same question over and over.

He's not starting a new team, he's joining one that's been around for a few years. Its been struggling no doubt, but it isn't like he's building things from the ground up. He won't need to set up accounting, HR, payroll, etc. He won't need to find garage space or negotiate for equipment. The current drivers have been able to run in mid-pack (when they get in the race). Tony should be able to easily bump that up to running in the top 10 or 15. Once you're in the top 10 consistently you'll win eventually.

That's the advantage he has in that this is already established. I'm hoping that they're equipment is good and it's just been a driver issue.

I don't think Tony will be happy with anything except winning races and being in contention to win races next year.

Stewart did not do this to run in the back or middle pack next year. You can bet that Stewart's people will have him in good cars next year and he will be running up front.
