I always wonder how these changes really come about? Did Hendrick red flag Letarte or was this actually Steve's decision?

And how about Earnhardt? If Junior has matured enough to start calling his own race strategy, then this is probably a good move for him.

I respect the fact that Steve wants to be at home more while his children are growing up. I understand the situation because I was a career military officer and was constantly away on training exercises or deployments. I missed a lot of his younger years and only became a regular part of his life after a bad training accident left me unable to serve. Only after having to be home did I realize how much I had missed. Some things are more important than the job. A couple of years after I got out of the military, I started my own business but I made sure I didn't miss anymore of my son's life. I've driven one of my wreckers to a ballgame or school function many times in order to be there. My work wasn't the blessing in my life, my wife and son was.

Even with the red flag, Daytona was the best race in years. HMS kicked butt with 3 cars in the top 5 at the end. Jr. and Steve make the chase right off so the haters panties are going to be in a wad all year. I totally love it.

It was an awesome race. So much 2 & 3 wide racing throughout the race. And you can't get any better than the finish!!
