voice of nascar speaks again, and they wonder why they keep losing fans, with this so called rule book they use!
What does nascar consider being forced ?
Think i will start finding a better way to spend my 36 weekends a year.

It looks like Nascar was consistent for once - Regan paid the same price that Tony paid for the same action 7 yrs ago. Where's the problem?

You've got to know if there was any way under the sun Nascar could have robbed Tony of this win, they would have.

Really who cares. Nascar did make the right call, but racing is not like to good old days, there will never be another Petty, Pearson or Yarlboro rival like then. Since to goodie too-shoo image era ends there will be no good racing.

Bob, how can a car infront of you force you below the yellow line when the entire righthand side of the car in front is open?? see, Regan is a rookie so he doesn't know yet that you need to have an actual lane of racing to race in... you can't go onto the fence when up high, why should you be able to go out of bounds, below the yellow line to pass for the lead? there is a reason why they say at all restrictor plate tracks that you can not better your position by falling below the yellow line..it is a shame that Regan and some media are ruining this win for Tony.. I am glad that he doesn't care!!! cuz he knows the rules... he knew when going over the finish line that Regan was below the yellow line and hence out of bounds..

The rule doesn't allow you to advance your position, even if you get forced under the line. Plus, trying to make a move underneath another car where there wasn't enough room isn't being forced out. He chose to try to go under and ran out of space. If they let him do that then they would pretty much be throwing out the yellow line rule altogether. Being forced out was what happened to JPM earlier in the race, and even then you'll notice that he didn't try to advance his position while down there.

Since I've heard this rule mentioned multiple times every time there's a restrictor plate race, I don't really see how it can be confusing to so many people.

exactly.. when we go to races at Daytona, all through the race someone or other is forced below the line and needs to give the position back or they get black flagged. It is a crime that reporters in the sport seem to not know this basic rule.

Damn he looked good on NASCAR Victory Lane! I DVRed it because I was out of town and since the race went past time it cut off with 14 laps to go. I didnít even get to see the finish and I didn't know who won until this morning when I watched NASCAR Victory Lane that I DVRed in the middle of the night sometime. OMG!!! Of all finishes to miss. How awesome for Smoke. How many times has he been in the same position as Regan was? Of course his first win at Talladega would be a controversial one. Not the first controversial one at Talladega and I'm sure wont be the last. GO SMOKE!!!

Regan,

you should have kept your position on the inbounds side of the line and let tony wreck himself when he came back across your right front. If thats what Nascar wants, give it to them...

I didn't know Regan read this forum - but I do know you pitifully underestimate Tony's driving ability.

I wonder if Regan would have wrecked Tony, also taking himself and his teamate out, how many DEI fans would be mad at him for making a rookie mistake. There was a reason why Jimbob Johnson hung back all friggin day long, until he was lapped and had to stay in the front... because restrictor plate racing is insane.. Tony Stewart with the finishes he has had, mostly seconds, shows that he is the KING of restrictor plate racing.. I am SOOO glad that he got his Talledega win. He and the 20 team did SOO good yesterday

I didn't see the race, but caught just snippets on NASCAR.com . From that, it seems Zippy and Tony have parted company. I didn't see any warm and fuzzy from Zippy in VL, nor in the interview. Zippy was there and then the next shot, his seat was empty. Zippy's interview only mentioned how he was proud of the guys working on the car - normally he would mention the driver, but not yesterday. Sad.

You must've missed the part when they showed Zippy a bit choked up after it was cleared up that they had won. He also said this during the press conference: "If I had my choice, I wish he was staying where he was at and we were going to continue on."

I'd like to know what race you was watching? The one I seen showed a clear lane to the left of tony when he swerved to the right to block. Then regan went to the inside and tony blocked and instead of regan wrecking tony he dropped below the yellow line to avoid an accident.

Regan won that race fairly but nascar took it away.

You all should be thanking regan for not wrecking tony when he should've been sent thru the infield!
